Excluding the origin story of COVID, I believe the biggest lie in the handling of COVID is the lie around asymptomatic spread — i.e., you could have the virus and not know it and kill people. This has been the great distraction of COVID, and it is being used even today to distract from major issues.
For those who have been monitoring the research, we have suspected since fairly early on that having otherwise healthy people and asymptotic people wear a mask has no known benefit in preventing viral spread. Even the peer-reviewed journal articles on the CDC website testify to this. If this statement was true then and is true now, then how did the CDC come to recommend in April of 2020 that healthy people wear masks? Why does the CDC continue to recommend mask-wearing? Just as importantly, how did we the people come to believe that forcing healthy people to wear a mask might be necessary?
The "scientists" at the CDC have demanded we suspend our understanding of all known viral transmission knowledge and believe that asymptotic spread is possible, and therefore we needed everyone to wear a mask to "slow the spread." "Slow the spread" has been a popular and hugely successful slogan, but appears to have no basis in scientific reality.
Many of us knew this to be a lie by mid-2020. In December 2020, the CDC acknowledged the lie that had occurred. Asymptotic spread does not occur with COVID — i.e., only people with symptoms are contagious! This report in The Federalist is illuminating, and if true, this should be a focus of efforts in combatting the hysteria around the delta variant.

The biggest lie about COVID is ANYTHING said by government, big pharma, the medical community, media and/or the “experts” here at FR.

How Sweden Triumphed over COVID
> August 10
Earlier this year, Sweden’s top health official, Johan Carlson, felt obligated to tell the world how wrong everyone else was. “Some believed that it was possible to eliminate disease transmission by shutting down society,” he said. “We did not believe that and we have been proven right.”

“felt obligated to tell the world how wrong everyone else was”
Everyone else wasn’t wrong. It was all a hoax it’s just that Sweden wasn’t in on it.
COVID eradicated the flu. At least that’s the lie spread in charts showing that people completely stopped dying of the flu during COVID.
I have had about all of this I can take.
Two friends of mine who work in two different Walmart stores, have told me they have resumed wearing masks on orders from management. Vaccinated or not. Wear it or be terminated. No exceptions.
Neither of them work in an area with a lot of covid cases.
Asymptomatic spread, not asymptotic. Does no one proofread anything now?
Masks and the vaccines do nothing to stop the transmission of the virus.
And yet that is what all of the political, non-medical experts decide to do, even when they have failed miserably in the past, is to mandate the use of worthless masks and chase after and vilify people who aren't vaccinated.
It's like they're not smart enough to consult medical experts and scientists for a better understanding and solution to stopping the spread of the virus.
Virologists snd immunologists will tell you the big mistake this 2nd go around is that it is a big no-no in their business to try and vaccinate people in the middle of the pandemic. It only makes the virus mutate to stay active and develops into more virulent viruses and makes matters worse, not better.

My editor friend told me a few days ago that she has taken on the idea in the last few years that as long as people can understand what the other is trying to say, then corrections to errors shouldn’t be made, including spelling errors. She said our language evolves, and what used to be correct before, doesn’t make the newly evolving language wrong. I have now realized my friend is getting too involved into her own emotions that she can’t see straight.

But it spell-checked!
It’s true that the language is evolving (though not necessarily improving thereby). Just look at the acceptance of “they” as a singular pronoun. That’s not at all the same as outright errors, such as using a word with a specific meaning in place of a different word with a different meaning.
We should not have to figure out what someone is trying to say; the writer should have used the right words in the first place. Your editor friend is evading the responsibilities of an editor.
Spell-check is no substitute for being able to spell. I’ve been saying that since spell-check first came out. It is handy for catching typos, though, I’ll admit.
It has always been my understanding that once a virulent pathogen has breached containment in a large and mobile population, attempts to re-contain it are futile.
I believe part of it is an over-dependence on spelling and grammar checking functionality in software.
I work professionally with speech recognition software, and people who use it professionally (such as physicians) know that they have to take responsibility for positively verifying that what they dictate into the software translates appropriately, because recognition can be faulty and substitute one real word for another real word, but the two real words have completely different meaning.
And spell check will not see it. (There is some contextual checking, but that has flaws as well)
Point is, large segments of the population not longer verify that what they type is what they mean to communicate. I have actually turned off auto-correct in most programs I use.
I still make mistakes. But...they are MY mistakes.
The programs can be such a crutch that language skills may become stunted and diminished as a result.
I also suspect that there are many people whose job requires them to survey and edit content for mistakes who actually fall prey to dependency on software to do their job because at a fundamental level, many of them are incompetent and their education has been sub-par.
Hence, much of the stupidity we see from the media that makes us exclaim “What? Aren’t there any competent editors any more?”
