Ohio Gov. DeWine Won’t Reintroduce COVID-19 Mandates August 4, 2021 Peter D'Abrosca
Joining a growing and bipartisan list of governors, Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R) said Sunday that he will not bring back lockdowns and mask mandates as cases of COVID-19 once again rise.
“We are seeing the virus go up,” DeWine told CNN‘s Jake Tapper. “We think the Delta variant is certainly the dominant one in Ohio yet, but the whole game today is vaccinations, and we have room to grow. We think that we can get more people vaccinated.”
DeWine said the state saw a huge jump in vaccines administered last week, particularly among rural Ohioans and those on Medicaid.
“I’ll tell you what we have done,” DeWine said when directly asked about reimplementing COVID-19 restrictions. “We recommend – a strong recommendation to our schools that they [implement mask mandates]. Now, some will do that, some will not. But it’s clear the evidence shows that that’s a way to really slow down spread in the schools.”
DeWine noted masks mandates in schools worked last winter to stop the spread of the virus among students.
But he joins a growing list of governors who will not levy any more mandates, choosing instead to make recommendations.
As The Virginia Star reported last week, Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam (D) had essentially the same message for his constituents. He encouraged taking precautions and getting vaccinated but said there will be no more mandates...

Baloney. Schools in Ohio were all closed all last winter. WTH is this idiot talking about.
This time they’ll pressure business to do it for them. Mask mandates and Jab proof at the store or restaurant are being implemented.
The legislature, over his veto, rescinded his right to do so.
Almost all private & Parochial schools were open last year. My children didn’t miss a day of school. They were masked. They had better not require them this year at their Catholic school.
Yes, or you’ll have dueling messages from the county health directors and some of these governors. And the health directors will win; the governors are just trying to save face.
The school districts will all vote to “err on the side of caution”, which likely means masks required for all children for the first month of school, then some migration to video/remote school again in many areas.
I am disgusted in advance of the hysteria that will ensue over the next several months.
I live in southwestern Ohio....every school around here was open since the fall.
The mandaters are swimming uphill, not likely to find people interested in their crap directives anymore.
I was pleasantly surprised to learn my governor Ralph "Coon Man" Northam (D, VA) said there will be no new COVID mandates.

So far I've only seen businesses "strongly encourage" customers to wear masks. It's different, however for employees and I fear that from here on out, anyone working in retail and dealing with customers will forever be forced to wear a mask as a condition of employment. Masks behind the register will never go away.
Making it even harder to hire minimum wage folks.
Learned his lesson. It was a monstrous political loser.
We here in SE Ohio ignored most of it anyway. Only Karens wore masks, and we don’t have many of those.
DeWine, the garden gnome, is starting to get worried about his primary.
Let’s not forget the republican party passed legislation and voted to over-ride the illegal authority he grabbed more than one year ago, so he does not have authority to dictate masks to everyone.
....and not one so-called "journalist" asked him what evidence he was referring to.
I’m a voracious reader, prob why I was a good analyst.
This is my take on the variants. Variants are the result of the vaccinated. Tho people are not getting vaccinated in the true medical definition. mRNA is gene therapy, not a vax. True gene therapy, removes the patients T-cells, modifies them and reintroduces them in the same patient.
What people are receiving to fight this virus is a “one size fits all” gene therapy, thus deaths.
In summary, we have vaccinated super-carriers infecting the “vaxxed and un-vaxxed” for a virus with a 99% survival rate. And those survivors do not create variants.
Research and educate yourselves.
