I've made this point many times before, and I want to make it again more loudly and more plainly today. It is not conservatives who have turned American politics into a culture war battle. It is liberals. And this shouldn't come as a surprise: Almost by definition, liberals are the ones pushing for change while conservatives are merely responding to whatever liberals do. More specifically, progressives have been bragging publicly about pushing the Democratic Party leftward since at least 2004—and they've succeeded.

Now: maybe you're personally delighted by the Democratic Party's leftward march and maybe you're not. It doesn't matter. Despite endless hopeful invocations of "but polls show that people like our positions," the truth is that the Democratic Party has been pulled far enough left that even lots of non-crazy people find us just plain scary—something that Fox News takes vigorous advantage of. From an electoral point of view, the story here is consistent: Democrats have stoked the culture wars by getting more extreme on social issues and Republicans have used this to successfully cleave away a segment of both the non-college white vote and, more recently, the non-college nonwhite vote.

Who really shares the values of the white progressive wing of the Dem party? Trendy identity laden junk thought filled with factual significance distortion and conveniently fictitious causal relationships to support their moral outrage false premises that are dissociative of the reality that most Americans contend with every day. Transgender males on women’s sports teams, new pronouns to express “imagined” gender, overweighted historical significance distortions of 1619, white fragility theory, reparations that even most blacks poll strongly against, social worker police forces, CRT, etc. The very visible in the media. the arts, sloganeering activist forces, and universities are filled with these sophomoric unnuanced virtue signaling robots, while the media, competing for moral outrage circulation, creates the false impression. through its repetitious bullhorn. that most in the public think like them. In fact, most, contending with the reality of living, rather than trendy circulation expanding identity niche issues, do not. They are the true invisible multiracial silent majority that quietly resents the ridicule of the loud simple minded posturing minority with the bullhorn.
I pretty much blame liberals for just about everything wrong with society and have nothing to do with them.
Those of us with brains and a lick of honesty have known this for quite a while. The left divides. But yes, kudos to the commie rag for acknowledging it.

That’s an excellent essay. The Democrats have not recovered from Reagan, let along Newt’s “Revolution.” This is their 3rd “trifecta,” since Reagan (and he never got one because of Democratic gerrymandering), and both of the last 2 only lasted 2 years. They’re acting like they won one election, and they’ll rule forever because of it. I think they have scared too much of the middle.
Why not cut to the chase and directly hate the liberals instead?
