This sounds like the ultimate False Flag. They can say the asteroid is about, say, ten years away from destroying the planet “UNLESS WE...” (fill in the dots).

Its going to happen and there is nothing anyone can do about it. The sooner the better.

Yep. In March 1966, “Giant Meteor Impact” by J.E. Enever appeared in Analog magazine, detailing the likely effects of a medium-large asteroid hit on Earth. It was quite the interesting and compelling article. I wrote a paper for my high school science class based mostly off Enever’s research. Unlike Biden, I gave proper credit for my sources! ;-)

“Lucifer’s Hammer” (great, great novel) followed in 1977.

What we need to save us from asteroids are hot Earth babes in a space station. Hot babes with short purple hair and silver lame mini skirts.

With our own Laz as the uh... as the space station commander!

I’m somewhat surprised nobody ever made a “Lucifer’s Hammer” movie.

Probably because, done right, it would be very long.

And the Chicxulub crater in Mexico wasn’t known at that point.

Who theorizes the Gulf of Mexico was made by an asteroid strike?

They need to focus on protecting the earth from giant A-Holes.

These days, NASA officials have become quite preoccupied by the threat that giant space rocks potentially pose, and we are being told that “scientists are at work on a plan to avoid the destruction of Earth by an errant asteroid

Nothing beats a well aimed asteroid of size. According to the Dark Forest theory of where is everyone, Earth is a competitor and having announced to the cosmos it existence, is a target for elimination.

A stealth competitor just needs to enter our solar system as from as the Kuiper belt pick a nice sized rock, set speed and course and leave undetected. A few years later a 100 km asteroid pops out from behind the Sun headed for Earth and Volia ELE! One less competitor in the Dark Forest.

See Chicxulub crater - the strike that is credited with eliminating the dinosaurs. And its not a theory. There is an actual impact crater.

If its a planet destroyer then at that point is an ELE, so it does not matter what anyone does or does not do

This is NASA’s version of “climate change”. They’ll soon likely recommend masking for protection from an asteroid strike.

This is good.

The government plans to protect us by altering the direction of the climate and now they are busy protecting us from rogue asteroids.

What concerns me now is who is working on solving that pesky continental drift problem? Whoever it is better get busy.

I’m well aware of the Chicxulub crater.

I’m also well aware that it’s a SMALL fraction of the size of the Gulf of Mexico.

OK then you know the effects of crater formation on the surrounding landmasses, right? So what’s your question?

My question is “How can any rational being claim that the Chicxulub meteor impact formed the Gulf of Mexico?”.
