I find that an apartment or a house works the best.

Asheville is a fun town, lots of things to do. It it very liberal though. A lot of aging hippies there. The weather is great year round. There are a lot of homeless in the downtown area.

Oh, Lord.

Is your daughter very liberal? If so, she will fit right in. Here is an article on Asheville today- there is a lot of activism there. Asheville is more of a mini-Portland wannabe. It is beautiful there but the hippies have taken over and ruined what was once a great city. IMO, of course.

Don’t. Becoming part of the Woke Nation. Cops are stopping responding to calls under $1,000 damage.

Yes, don’t let your daughter hang out with THOTS.

Better rethink that title, in light of what THOT stands for . . . otherwise aspersions may be cast unintentionally.

I have relatives who just moved to the Asheville area. Beautiful country .... they had trouble finding a ‘reasonably’ priced house since a lot of folks vacation there & snap up houses in a hurry. Aside from the ‘resort’ prices, definitely Liberal.

My daughter lives in Asheville. As another Freeper said, Asheville is very liberal, and in the last several years I’ve been dismayed by a beautiful city gone bad.

Asheville defunded the police, the crime rate soars, and as one friend observed, “It’s an angry place.”

My two cents.

Grew up in the mountains of western NC for part of my childhood. I would personally avoid Asheville now.

Visited last fall — BLM signs abound — couldn’t leave fast enough.

Permit me to mention something I tell every person who moves into a city.

1. Do not take a basement apartment.
2. Do not take a first floor apartment.

It might not seem like a big deal. But it is.

Two of my children live in Boone, and I find that area to be very liberal because of App State Univ. I have to shut my mouth around them. I know NC used to be very Conservative. I guess it depends on the area now. Some areas the prices are reasonable as compared to other surrounding states. It’s a lovely state around the mountains. That’s about all I know. I’ve lived in all the Southern states except for NC and SC.

There are plenty of fine areas in western NC without going to that city. Is a job for her the reason?.

I agree with the other posters. Asheville is the most liberal city in North Carolina. That area of the NC mountains is beautiful and there are many things to do in town as well as in the surrounding area. Lots of people moving into that area and traffic congestion is becoming a greater issue. Quality of life is generally very good. Plenty of activities for young people. Housing has become very expensive. Some of the neighboring towns are very nice (Hendersonville, Waynesville or Black Mountain for example) and may be less bohemian. Hendersonville is about 25 miles south of Asheville, Waynesville 30 miles west, Black Mountain 16 miles east.

I live 25 miles north of Asheville. I go to Asheville once a year for a doctor’s appt. Wonderful area, but she may be happier in a surrounding town. Hendersonville, Waynesville, Weaverville.

Biden won the whole county, 59.9% to Trump's 38.7%.

I know someone who moved there with his wife twenty years ago and moved back to the Midwest a few years later.

If you like what NYC has become, I'd say go to Asheville, because it's a much prettier path to Hell on Earth.

NC is a “shall issue” state for concealed carry, but requires a safety and training course. Just add it to the list with drivers license and registration, water and power, Internet and any professional licenses, and mail forwarding.
