Other than saying he would quit the club to get elected I have no problem with it either. As long as a black caucus is okay in the congress, whites should be able to have their own fraternal type organizations. If people were honest they would admit that groups are formed by having like purpose.
Besides the hypocrisy involved in this, I really have no problem with it. We have freedom of association.

Except Sheldon Whitehouse is one of these biggest a**holes in the Senate, and that is saying a lot. This is the senator who wanted to use RICO statutes to jail anyone who was critical of climate change. He’s an even bigger a**hole than Romney, and that’s quite the achievement. so yeah, this double-douche deserves all the scorn and derision possible to rain down on him.
Walter Williams used to comment about the difference between racism and bias.
I have a bias. I prefer to be around individuals who look like, think like, and behave like I do. I don’t feel I need to be diverse and there is no force of nature that is going to make me different.
2 great points. This hypocrisy is industrial strength levels.
Remember Groucho’s line about organizations and their membership. “I would never join any club that wanted me as a member” (paraphrase)
The corollary is: why join any club that did not want you as a member and probably was at odds with your interests.
Of course, their mission might be racism in and of itself, which paints a slightly less acceptable scenario..
