McConnell and several other Republicans did block the nomination. The filibuster was also preserved by McConnell. Some of the things he does are good but he’s a bit too squishy for my tastes, kind of like Sen. Lamar Alexander was.

So it wasn't a good thing there wasn't a Left-wing majority on the Supreme Court? There were quite a few huge 5-4 decisions in that time period that would have gone the other way.
