The first of NASA's enormous Space Launch System (SLS) rockets stands as tall as the Statue of Liberty.
Towering 212ft above the ground and flanked by its two smaller booster rockets, the core stage of the US space agency's next generation rocket has been photographed, for the first time, in its launch configuration ahead of its maiden voyage later this year.
Designed to carry astronauts to the Moon and beyond, this gargantuan launch vehicle will play an integral part in NASA's Artemis program which aims to place astronauts on the Moon before 2030.
The other key component will be the Orion capsule, which is capable of carrying six astronauts.

Really? You must work for Nasa.
My money is on Musk getting there a decade before nasa crashes on the moon.
Actually it looks very similar to the Apollo missions, right down to the parachute “splashdown” landing back on Earth.
Will this moon landing be real, or faked liked the others and filmed in a Hollywood studio?
The Saturn V was 100 ft higher. If there are any Rocket nuts, you will love the Space center in Huntsville. Even have a Saturn I-B at the rest stop. Awesome as hell!
Considering Apollo was more than a half century ago....DUH!!!
Sarcasm, right?
Think about it !
We are roughly chronologically as far from the Apollo launches as the Apollo launches were from the Wright Brothers.
Seems to me we wasted much of that time !
“...Designed to carry astronauts to the Moon...
Didn’t we do this 52 years ago????
Good point, but with everything is considered, such as unmanned exploratory spacecraft/missions, we’ve come a looong way.
We supposedly “lost” the technology. Whatever that means.
Not according to some people
Yeah, well, some people think the earth is flat...
Maybe !
I still think manned explorations are necessary.
We should have had working orbital space stations by now. When I say working I mean more then the PR stunts we currently have. There should have been efforts to put launch platforms in orbit, get out of the gravity well. Also there should have been more effort to establish a lunar base. More effort to assay the mineral wealth of asteroids.
If SpaceX gets there first NASA will cancel this Turkey and redirect the money to Global Warming ,LOL
Or Muslim outreach bwahahahahahahaha
That’s a really complex system - getting everything working, synced is going to take decades before any one lands, unless the Chinese get they years before. Then there is Musk ...
