I highly recommend the types WITHOUT electronics, such as this one (which I own the prior model):
https://chefman.com/product/3-5-liter-air-fryer-with-flat-basket/
To be clear for those unknowing:
An ‘air fryer’ is simply a self-contained convection oven with a basket rather than an oven grate.
Period.
Features vary, but I prefer simple. For $40, it’s a cheap experiment and, lemme tell ya: Best roasted veggies & french fries I’ve ever had!
(I’ve not yet tried chicken or other meats, but I assure you that with no temperature control, meat thickness and placement in the ‘fryer’ are key to results).
Not long after, found a great gadget that is like an elevated wire basket on a cookie sheet. That in my regular oven on convection setting, perfect french fries at last!! It's easy to clean in the dishwasher.
We have a “Big Boss” air fryer. I have baked a turkey in the thing!
The only complaint is that it is hard to clean.

Try baby back ribs... out of this world. Chicken wings better and faster than restaurant’s can do...
I’m with you on the ‘no electronics’...
I have an Amazon Basic unit... not digital, no chips, no problems. I think it ran around $50 or $60... Great little machine... Also bought two silicon ‘pan’ inserts for it... Easy to wash, easy to stick in the dishwasher. The main unit doesn’t get dirty.
