I heard one also over my home right after the son of the devil was elected _resident in 2008.
I was outside and not a dang thing could be seen in the sky.

We had a spate of these unexplained booms one winter, a few years ago. Local geologists and meteorologists offered various explanations, the most likely sounding of which involved ground expansion and contraction due to freezing and thawing, but conditions were not particularly unusual, so, why only that winter, so far as anyone could recall? Most odd.
