Oops. On March 2, Fauci estimates a 2% mortality rate from the virus. He’s off by a factor of 10, give or take.
This was the mistake that drove all the others. pic.twitter.com/onGRI5IXKa— Alex Berenson (@AlexBerenson) June 1, 2021

Probably what the Chicoms were telling him to say.
Anyone who was a real scientist would have inserted some caveats, like “it’s very early and likely to spread, so we can’t determine the the true case fatality rate at this point in time.”
March 2 was before most of the state lockdowns.
Yeah in march 2020
He did this then because they needed to make it appear worse than it was, worse than the flu
The flu cases that they would misdiagnose as covid
Note all the flu cases for 2020 just didnt exist
The cases of flu were deliberately misdiagnosed by oversampled pcr tests as covid cases
He needs to be ARRESTED for what he has done!
A mistake or a strategy?
Probably what the Chicoms were telling him to say.

March 2 was before most of the state lockdowns>>> except he knew the gain of function research he was paying for would probably create about 2%.
A Bad Influenza year!!!
With everything that is known and has been known to quite a few for the last 1 1/2 years, Should we stock up on Rope? Tar and feathers? Put Public Stocks up again?

It was no mistake.
When is Dr Fauci going to defect to the PRC?
I might be missing something here and I am definitely not a defender of Fauci, but this number was in March of 2020 when we still did not know much about it.
He said 2%
John Hopkins today says the number per 100,000 cases is 1.7% in the US.
https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality
The number that is looming on the horizon that will shock a lot of people is how many deaths could have been prevented by early intervention with therapeutics such as Ivermectin, cortico-steroids, antibiotics, and yes, even the much maligned HCQ.
The data is pretty clear that these regimens can greatly reduce mortality when administered immediately.
This is not what our health care system did...... how many lives could have been saved? The number will be shocking to many. Almost 600k deaths in the US. For the sake of argument if the therapeutics were 50% effective that is 300k lives lost.
We will never know the exact number, but even the steroids if administered early would have greatly reduced death and hospitalization caused by inflammation of the lungs.
The list of sins for Fauci is growing....
Potentially funded the virus for gain of function research behind the back of two administrations
Foolishly accepted the word of his “esteemed Chinese colleagues” at the outset of this mess like they were having tea in a faculty lounge
Prevented and shut down any potential therapeutics despite many health systems around the world using them and showing a benefit
Prescribed lock-downs, masking, and social distancing that have all been shown to be ineffective
Being off by .3 of a percentage point if I am reading this carefully is not a scandal as Alex is defining it here and I am a big fan of Alex’s work throughout this pandemic.
It is worse than the flu. Excess mortality in the US in 2020 was something like 600,000 extra deaths over a normal year. And lots of people have died in 2021 too.
Fauci’s a prime example of why you can never trust the govt. Always listen to what they say, but you’ll find the truth elsewhere.
Maybe he meant 2% of actual illnesses, not reported cases.
Something’s wrong with that graph. It doesn’t seem at all possible that one nation (Mexico) could be that far out of proportion to every other nation.
“John Hopkins today says the number per 100,000 cases is 1.7% in the US.”
That suggests only 10% of the US managed to get infected by Covid at all over the past 18 months, including “asymptomatic” and mild cases. That number seems rather low, considering all the fuss.
The death rate for Spanish flu was about 2.5% worldwide, but we now have much better hygiene and medical treatments. Fauci may have been referencing that flawed study from the UK.
