I might be missing something here and I am definitely not a defender of Fauci, but this number was in March of 2020 when we still did not know much about it.

He said 2%

John Hopkins today says the number per 100,000 cases is 1.7% in the US.

https://coronavirus.jhu.edu/data/mortality

The number that is looming on the horizon that will shock a lot of people is how many deaths could have been prevented by early intervention with therapeutics such as Ivermectin, cortico-steroids, antibiotics, and yes, even the much maligned HCQ.

The data is pretty clear that these regimens can greatly reduce mortality when administered immediately.

This is not what our health care system did...... how many lives could have been saved? The number will be shocking to many. Almost 600k deaths in the US. For the sake of argument if the therapeutics were 50% effective that is 300k lives lost.

We will never know the exact number, but even the steroids if administered early would have greatly reduced death and hospitalization caused by inflammation of the lungs.

The list of sins for Fauci is growing....

Potentially funded the virus for gain of function research behind the back of two administrations

Foolishly accepted the word of his “esteemed Chinese colleagues” at the outset of this mess like they were having tea in a faculty lounge

Prevented and shut down any potential therapeutics despite many health systems around the world using them and showing a benefit

Prescribed lock-downs, masking, and social distancing that have all been shown to be ineffective

Being off by .3 of a percentage point if I am reading this carefully is not a scandal as Alex is defining it here and I am a big fan of Alex’s work throughout this pandemic.

That's the case fatality rate. The mortality rate is the infection fatality rate...

Something’s wrong with that graph. It doesn’t seem at all possible that one nation (Mexico) could be that far out of proportion to every other nation.

“John Hopkins today says the number per 100,000 cases is 1.7% in the US.”

That suggests only 10% of the US managed to get infected by Covid at all over the past 18 months, including “asymptomatic” and mild cases. That number seems rather low, considering all the fuss.
