People who put their street name on their mailboxes

Posted on 05/26/2021 4:56:30 PM PDT by SamAdams76

New York City is definitely coming back. I take the Metro North to Grand Central out of Westport, CT and both the last couple of days, there were so many people on the trains that the three-seaters are now filled by 2 people and even some of the two-seaters were filled up.

Inside the city, we are reaching almost gridlock levels with the traffic. I walked over the Queensboro Bridge today on 59th Street to Long Island City and it was utterly jammed. Not only the vehicular traffic but bikes, scooters and pedestrians abounded. And many people (including myself) were unmasked.

But one thing I notice about driving out of Westport station and taking backroads back to my home is just how many people are putting their street name on their mailboxes!

Does anybody else notice this besides just me?

Why would people do that?

In this day and age, you definitely don't want to be giving away your address information to strangers. Yet these home owners are advertising their STREET ADDRESS to the entire world!

Well it certainly is a bit odd.

There are people who put their last name on their mailboxes.

As for me, I put my neighbor’s last name on my mailbox.

Maybe to help the amber lamps drivers....since CommieCore has interfered with basic comprehension these days, it seems. 🤷‍♀️

Month’s silliest rant!

Todays postal workers are not the brightest. Might help.

If you’re on the street, can’t you see the street name and addresses?

1. The USPS requires your street number.

2. The street number is easily found on the corner sign or the GPS display.

Well I just think it's not the brightest idea to put your street name on your mailbox. There are some crazy people out there and if you have a Trump sign in your yard, you are just advertising to the crazies on where to find you if you plaster your street name on your mailbox.

Dumb, dumb, dumb.

If you have your number on your home it's hardly difficult to figure out the street name.

Heck I can usually find someone's address & view their home with minimal information right through Google Maps. Imagine what you can find out about someone with a little more information.

So many people put so much information into social media that we have very few secrets anymore.

I sell exterior home products. I always pull up the address up on Google & look at the home. You can often fully estimate a job by the street or satellite image.

Is this really a problem? Most people have their numbers posted and secret cabals in the government, like the city road department, hang signs with street names all over the place. Some people even use radio signals beamed from orbit by the United States Space Force to track this information. You can’t fight both the road department and Spaaaaaace Foooooorce!

Definitely helps. We are very acquainted with a person in our neighborhood with a similar sounding street name.

I like the ones that say “Resident” or “Occupant.”

Not on my street. All the signs are stolen by punks because I live on High Street.

I remember when people put their name and address on mail boxes.

But you kind of need the house number on the mail box for the mailman. And the street name is at the end of the road or on GPS. So I don’t see a problem with the address.
