When I was young ppl used to say racist shit about Asians around me all the time and then be like ‘Oh sorry! But you’re not reeeally Asian so…’ and I think they sincerely thought that would make me feel better. I’m not exactly sure why I brought that up but I think… …it’s because I want to say that I grew up in a time when there was zero political correctness. I literally saw political correctness being invented right in front of me (at certain schools) and then distributed and eventually enforced as a mindset and ideology.

It’s understandable that people didn’t realize that Sean Lennon was half Asian with the way his Japanese mother always kept such a low profile and all. Sarcasm.

Actually, his statement reads like a very heartfelt reaction to political correctness.

Yes. I’ve followed him from time to time. He straddles.. probably doesn’t want to shock his mom too much. Even his father had a libertarian streak. I think it’s impossible to say what John’s view of the current scene would be. He had a tendency to be pragmatic with outbursts of unhinged idealism. Also straddling...

Yes. He has lived five years beyond his father. Time truly flies. I enjoyed this twitter thread. He expresses the issue in terms almost identical to my thinking on it. Very well written also.

Actually I'd think that a lot more of what Sean Lennon has had to endure in his life has been strangers’ ideas/feelings about his parents (both good and bad things people may think).

And he does seem to be cognizant that today's race conscious media/culture isn't bringing people together, it seems to be more divisive and insulting than ever.

Sean Lennon has a number of styles/projects.

I saw him perform at an event one year (including Plastic Ono band with Yoko at the end). I don’t recall if he played in 3 or 4 of the bands that night.
