It seems like a crazy urban legend: In China, drivers who have injured pedestrians will sometimes then try to kill them. And yet not only is it true, but it’s also fairly common; security cameras have regularly captured drivers driving back and forth on top of victims to make sure that they are dead. The Chinese language even has an adage for the phenomenon: “It is better to hit to kill than to hit and injure.”
In contrast in our country, BLM regularly blocks roads and in most situations, the drivers are the ones that took the hit.
When massive demonstrations against racial injustice erupted across the nation last summer, protesters used an increasingly common tactic to draw attention to their cause: swarming out onto major roads to temporarily paralyze traffic.
This method sometimes resulted in searing images of drivers plowing through crowds, causing serious injuries and in some cases, deaths.
Now, Republican politicians across the country are moving to stop the road-blocking maneuver, proposing increased penalties for demonstrators who run onto highways and legal immunity for drivers who hit them. The bills are among dozens introduced in Legislatures aimed at cracking down on demonstrations.
Drivers will have more freedom to act when they get attacked and a video that was sent to us this morning shows that sometimes the drivers will have to react in order to save their lie.
The video was allegedly filmed in Ohio and it shows a driver in a red car who is attacked by three people. One is armed with a knife and the other with a hammer. The driver hits the gas in reverse striking all three with the knive and the hammer falling from their hands.

If the driver didn't react in time he would probably be dead and in this case he took justice into his own hands.
Anything should be permissible to do to people who block traffic or other forms of transportation.

Even in a state with a duty to retreat, I would not be able to determine whether retreat was reasonable from the video.
I wouldn’t go that far but certainly very stiff penalties with no or very limited prosecutor discretion should apply. I would include a major penalty for each vehicle inconvenienced and perhaps a private right to sue for each driver and passenger so inconvenienced.

I have no sympathy for the feral knuckle draggers that got to play Frogger In Real Life, but the driver should have just floored it and gotten the hell out of there, instead of intentionally backing into the pack of animals. That action may well have exposed him to prosecution.
On the other hand, the driver looks to have the same suntan level as the aggressors, and given the look of that “hood”, I’ll bet any potential witnesses (witlesses) din’ see nuffin!
I just watched that video again and again and again. So satisfying when the driver floors it in reverse.
I’m not saying it was a great idea, but I understand.
I don’t mind what he did, but this isn’t a case of BLM or Antifa blocking a car. At the beginning of the clip, the driver was free to go forward and leave them behind.
And, we don’t know the race of the driver, or whether this was a personal beef or a political one.
But he sure took out the trash!

This person was gone and past them. And they never blocked them from what the video shows. The person then backed up and hit them.

Perhaps you missed the part where the driver had been assured they did not have guns. I noticed two of the thugs got up and grabbed their weapons. The third one probably had a few broken bones to worry about.
However, the driver was also black so not too much will be done.
