Like the Eloi of the far distant future who have been conditioned to calmly walk into the Morlock caves, the Eloi of 2021 have been so conditioned to wear their masks that they can't bear to part with them despite the new CDC guidelines. Freedom. It is something that neither the far future nor the 2021 Eloi have been conditioned to accept.
PING!
Be patient. Not at all defending what the government did, but way better that the people “undo” it at their own personal comfort rate.
I travel some. Very mixed bag as to mask / no-mask locations and populations. I think that will sort itself out in the next month or two.
I also expect the government and press to float a “resurgence” narrative so they can say “We told you so.”
There are two kinds of people in the world: The maskless and the faceless.
“We’ll wear our masks until coronavirus is gone,”
What these “scientists “ don’t know is we’ll ALWAYS have the coronavirus around. It’s been here right along.
I predict that a year from now we will continue to see the Eloi wearing masks.
Was in Cocoa Beach last week and I’d say it was 50/50 there. Publix was packed and it seemed that all the older folks were wearing them but majority of middle aged and younger weren’t.
Like any bad habit — even unhealthy, dirty habits as is mask-wearing — it takes time to break. All you can do is continue to live your life to the fullest (i.e., mask-less) which can help even fearful, weak-minded people gather the inner courage to do the same as they see more and more healthy people break free of their unhealthy addiction and regain control of their own lives.
Let’s see, I have the option of not protecting myself and trusting a government decision to drop the mask because I’ve received an injection of an elixir they say works when they won’t certify it, don’t know what is going to happen, and won’t take responsibility for it. When am I going to be sheared?

There could be a booming business for psychologists to help the Eloi break their mask dependency.
True, but not if the patient needs to wear a mask during his session. There are a lot of irrationally frightened “mental health professionals” out there ... “the blind leading the blind” so to speak.
Eloi is an apt analogy.
+1.
The new socialist armband
Even the devils helpers do not wear masks. All done for control over you.
Nancy Pelosi Seen On Video Hugging, Chatting While Maskless In Crowded White House Room Despite Her Own Policy

Drove around Mesa all day yesterday doing fire inspections. In none of the small businesses I went into were people wearing masks. I noticed food workers and some restaurant customers were. Almost nobody I saw walking along the street were wearing them except people waiting for busses. Other exceptions were liberal places like bookstores and of course medical and quasi-medical offices. The best thing was seeing kids walking home from school finally maskless. It’s nice to see people’s smiles again.

Eastern Nevada. Hit WalMart and the sign said “no mask required if vaccinated”. About 80% wore no masks. Hit the casino for the breakfast buffet and we can now select what we want instead of a server taking your order. The casino used to be rabid about full coverage but they went the WalMart route and only the staff was masked. I asked the cashier why and she said only those vaccinated could do so - wondered if the casino wanted proof.
Guard at Wells Fargo asked me to mask up and I said I was vaccinated (not true). He said they were waiting for instructions. Told him it was all B/S and he agreed.
Smiths grocery still required masks but we went in without one and nothing was said. About 3/4 still wore masks.
At least the ice is breaking and people will look back on this as a bad dream.
How much? About 10 years ago, the local Seminole Casino at Coconut Creek, FL had a breakfast buffet special for only about $2.19. And it had tremendous food. Much less expensive than cooking breakfast at home. It lasted a few weeks but never came back again.
Ordered my meal and looked across at a lady. She was wearing her mask while eating - pulling it down for a bite or a sip, then quickly pulling it back up.
