In Hungary, prostitution is legal. Each community can define the areas where prostitutes can work.

They have socialized medicine leftover from the communist days (poor quality) but if the prostitutes pay taxes, then they get regular checkups.

A woman can work as an escort or massage in their own home.

Pimps and brothels are not allowed.

But it is a pretty good system and Hungary has some of the nicest and healthiest prostitutes in the world!

Since the California legislature is packed with whores that think they’re not criminals, this action stands to reason.

Theoretically, they would make it more difficult to have premarital sex, thus incentivizing men to get married and have children and potentially lead productive lives. Efficacy is debatable. Whether prostitution laws can be effective at this purpose in the modern era is even more debatable.

Europe learned long ago that licensed brothels are the way to go, not street hooking. Brothels provide health checks, condoms, even drug abuse treatment that street hookers do not get. Plus street hookers means pimps, a nasty and violent lot.
