Shelves would empty the first day that news got out.

This is not lost on our own oligarchy, either. After all, this event affected mostly red states, and President * didn’t seem to think that it was such a big deal at all.

“Just don’t buy too much gas”, he says. “Don’t put gas in plastic bags” we’re advised.

Of course, we should take note as well. Sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

For the record, the Achilles heel is the Atchafalaya basin/swamp. A huge percentage of all the pipelines serving the east coast run through the Atchafalya.

The point?

The natural course of the Mississippi River is south, down through the swamp. Books have been written about how detonating the levees in one key location would send the river rushing south, washing out the pipelines.

It’s not even guarded.

Read One Second After to get an idea of what we would be facing should a societal breakdown occur.

The cause may be different, but if we lose the power grid for any reason, the scenarios he paints will be frighteningly plausible.

Our power grid is in dire need of decentralization. The opposite of what the feds have been pushing for 4 decades.

A flip of a switch could shut down half the country. Hmm, could that be what our lords and masters in DC actually want?

Texas literally has it’s own grid and I wonder if the irony is lost of folks about what happened in February.

Did DC masters stifle them up to force that incident?

“One Second After”

Society becomes feral fast.

(I bawled like a 2 year old about the dogs)

Yes.

It took 2 weeks to get the shelves restocked in TX. We were having shortages and limits before the freeze.

I’m one of those “Prepper” guys. Most people think we are paranoid. My response is that we understand how thin the veneer of our present economy and civilization is. I live in a VERY rural and isolated area that is subject to all sorts of natural disasters, so my neighbors and I prepare for what we all know will happen.
Most city people don’t even understand how their goods are produced, much less how they get to the store. Most those people vote Democrat and are “Green”. Democrat society is easy to bring to a halt and in reality it only takes a very small effort, by a very few people. A trucker three month strike for example. Don’t even have to have all the truckers strike, just the large city deliveries.
Get ready, it will only get worse from here.
I have lots of Popcorn.

I agree with you.

I post these warning threads and ignorant folks can scoff all they want, but when it happens, it will literally kill off 90% of the population around urban areas.

The very same trucks that could paralyze this country if they stopped running, could also get an election audit done in every effin’ state in the country, get every dead person off the voter rolls, and eliminate ‘mail in voting’ forever.

All it would take is a bit of patriotism and some organization.

The Atchafalya does not even need levees detonated. One day, just about all of the Mississippi will shift to that channel. Almost happened in 1972. Look up Old River Control Structure for history.

How in God’s name could Colonial Pipeline not have an immediate back up plan?

We are dependent on the incompetent.

Sad and scary.
