The New York Times recently argued that abandoning the bathtub and ditching social hygiene can save the planet. Unfortunately, that’s no joke.
The deranged Times story was headlined “See Fewer People. Take Fewer Showers.” Times “breaking news” reporter Maria Cramer propagandized how a preschool administrative assistant named Robin Harper allegedly has only “shower[ed] once a week” since the pandemic. In Cramer’s estimation, “The new practice felt environmentally virtuous, practical and freeing. And it has stuck.” Cramer cheered how “[t]here are now indications that [showering less] has caused some Americans to become more spartan when it comes to ablutions.” Cramer’s story made as much sense as a 2020 Times op-ed headlined: “Stop Using Toilet Paper.”
Cramer even lambasted the practice of “wash[ing] more frequently” as an “American obsession with cleaning.” She blamed Americans' “obsession” on “[p]lumbing and upward mobility.” How dare Americans seek cleanliness, right Cramer?

Most liberals already smell.
Hey NYT, you all take fewer showers first.
They can KMA and pound sand.
They can pry my hot shower from my cold, dead hands. When I was in the Navy, I vowed to never have to take a “Navy Shower” again.
I remember people being ridiculed for objecting to government standards when they said “If a government can control how much water can be flushed in your toilet, there is nothing they cannot or will not attempt to control.”
Hmmm… Leftist’s birth control.
I hope the NYT folks practice what they preach: no showers, no meat, electric cars, etc....
Really shows how medieval the leftist mindset is.
Fixed it.
Also a complaint about “the obsession with indoor plumbing.” I was expecting to see next that indoor plumbing is racist.
If only it resulted in less leftist's kids being born.
Shut off all water and power to the NYT.
They deserve neither...
But I’m too old to learn to speak French.
Fewer showers and baths? Meh. I have a more important topic to discuss. When I exhale, I release nasty carbon dioxide. So would it help if I held my breathe now and again? If, so I’d be happy to do it.
We must all do our part to save Mother Earth! (Or is it now Person Earth?)
Let’s make the libs REALLY happy.
1. Shower once a week.
2. Adopt Cheryl Crow’s one square of toilet tissue per sitting.
3. Just for good measure, brush your teeth once a month. Think of all the water you sent down the drain while brushing your teeth.
The NYT needs to do its part for the environment by eliminating all electricity use.
They need to shut down all buildings and printing presses immediately!
Hey if your working from home then you can do that, two showers a week.
Being stinky is not virtuous. It doesn’t take that much water to be clean.
From early spring to late fall, about 99% is from solar.
Our town water to our house is gravity feed, so no electricity for pumping.
I grew up for the first few years without electricity, running water or phone.
We bathed once a week in a tub with water heated on the stove.
I will shower when I want, screw the left.
If people want to get serious about solar saving energy, heat hot water with it.
This insane grid tied crap, dumping power into the system during mostly off grid hours is nothing but a laundry for taxpayer money to democrats and their supporters.
The shower was one of the innovations.
Bucky had noticed that when on board ships being on deck with very greasy hands, when there was a fine mist, the grease just disappeared.
He made a shower with very fine nozzles fed with water and compressed air.
It took very little water, and left you perfectly clean, also using very little soap.
