Black America Before LBJ: How the Welfare State Inadvertently Helped Ruin Black Communities

There was nothing inadvertent about it. It was planned to create a permanent underclass who would always need government.

...can you really tell me blacks are better off than they were 75 years ago?

Those who refuse to play the victim and are willing to play by the rules are much better off. The true racism that existed then is nearly gone. The disruptors are desperately trying to bring it back; hopefully they will fail.

I agree with what you said.

Those blacks who refused to live on the Democrat Plantation and who got an education and ignored the racist liberal playbook?

They are indeed so much more better off. I only wish they could influence the others in their communities to follow their example.

This parallels exactly with Shelby Steele’s conclusions in his film, “What Killed Michael Brown?”

He lays the blame at the feet, not of racism, but of black people putting their trust in white liberals who promised to redeem them from racism and discrimination but whose actions show that all they really wanted out of the deal was to have the burden of their white guilt lightened.

And when those kids came of age in the mid ‘80s, the crack epidemic hit and gang violence exploded. Not a coincidence.

That was the entire intent, to make blacks dependent upon government, addicted to government benefits, so they would vote Democrat forever.

He could have you murdered on a golf course in front of witnesses and his hit man would get off with a slap on the wrist.

I’m constantly amazed people don’t appreciate that

I learned back in the 80s that welfare destroyed black entrepenurship between the 50s and the 70s.

Dr. Thomas Sowell has written about this numerous times about the parity between black and white families until gubmint “social” programs.

While the notion of a “culture of dependence” is a bit of a cliché in conservative circles,

Back when the Daily News wasn't too much of a Leftist propaganda organ, they had an article wherein mothers in Harlem were teaching their 14-year-old daughters how to get pregnant so they could bring in another couple of hundred a month.

The City paid, and I think still do, welfare per person - then wondered why the payload escalated.
