Hundreds of parents showed up to the Vail School Board meeting to demand the board make masks optional. The board didn't want to hear it so they walked out of the meeting before it even began. So the parents, under Robert's Rules of Order, voted in a new school board. Then, the new members voted to end the mask requirement in Vail Schools. The old school board members revealed exactly who they are and that includes GOP LD 10 Chairman, Chris King.

Bully for them!
Are they anything like the Marquess of Queensbury Rules, or whatever. It's their school...they can make up any rule they want!
That’s the way to do it.
One school board at a time.
One city council at a time.
One state seat at a time.
We can take America back. Christians are stronger than any liberals.
If they didn’t follow the rules, the courts could be used to invalidate decisions.
So this is best.
So the parents, under Robert’s Rules of Order...?
It’s been a while (well, almost 50 years now)since last referring to Robert’s Rules, but pretty sure you need a quorum to do anything.
Awesome!
Vail CO?
That can be considered a resignation.
You either do the job or you have quit.
Maybe it's Ariz.
It is Vail, Arizona.
“...GOP LD10 Chairman...King”
GOPee Delenda Est! Every stinkin’ one of ‘em!
I doubt it though...
TV's, second cars, iPhones, & stim-checks are too important to the current sick crop of Americans to allow any rocking of the boat...
Keep on grazing! Tote them chains!
Communism is here to stay!
Bow down!... Obey!... Snitch!...
Are they anything like the Marquess of Queensbury Rules, or whatever. It's their school...they can make up any rule they want!
Not picking on you, but since you brought it up in such a manner, using it to show a real problem for republicans
It is this ignorance of the rules that meetings are run by that appears to be shared by many republicans holding elected office that allows democrats, who do know the rules to run rough shod over our side.
The problem is, even their existence is never taught in school.
The only ways one learns them is to be an officer in some organization or elected office and take an interest in it.
I had never heard of parliamentary procedure until I became a state and local parliamentarian in the Vocational Industrial Club of America when in high school.
I got the book, "Roberts Rules of Order" and learned quickly.
There are other sets of rules.
Our local school meetings are run under Mason's Rules (nothing to do with the Masonic organization).
IMHO, Mason's Rules are better, as they only allow the winning side after a vote to reconsider.
Knowing of the rules and keeping the rule books handy for reference has served me very well over the years since 1971 when I first learned of them.
THIS is what we need more of.
The moderator was a local real estate lawyer. About a half an hour into the meeting, the way he was running it didn't seem right. It was obvious he was "winging it", making up the rules as he went.
I stood up and asked him, "Mr Moderator, what set of rules are you using to run this meeting"? He responded, "My rules". I said, "did you post these rules in all of the district town halls as per New Hampshire state law two weeks or more before the meeting so the public would know what the rules are"?. He responded, "no". I said, "well, you have two choices. You can either use Robert's Rules or end this meeting right now. I will have to ask the State Policeman standing over there to end it if you don't, because this is an illegal meeting."
The Trooper started walking towards the moderator. The moderator, visibly shaken, chose Robert's Rules.
The teachers and their buddies counted on this and dragged out the meetings as long as they could.
After many had left, the teachers and their henchmen moved to reconsider all of the spending issues that had been voted down. Somehow, they always won.
Then we got a new moderator, Harold Burns, a Republican who was also the State of NH house majority leader.
He announced at his first meeting that it would be run by Mason's Rules. During a break, I asked him about those rules. He said he would get a copy for me, it is what the NH house and senate are run by.
Reconsideration under Mason's Rules is only allowed if moved by the winning side!. Under Robert's, either side can move it. The teachers we checkmated.
