Now Congress Comes After Firearms Manufacturers

President Joe Biden has frequently made clear his intent to repeal the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act (PLCAA), and now it seems some members of Congress are looking to follow suit.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) reintroduced H.B. 2814, a bill designed to achieve Biden’s goal of eliminating the PLCAA. The last version of the bill was titled the “Equal Access to Justice for Victims of Gun Violence Act.”

Speaking in 2019 about the bill’s previous iteration, Schiff said, “The gun industry should not enjoy special privileges and protections. … This bill would pierce the gun industry’s liability shield by putting an end to the special protections the gun industry receives.” He added that his goal was to “correct the error Congress made” by passing the PLCAA in 2005.

This is a blatantly dishonest attack on firearms manufacturers, one that echoes Biden’s repeated calls for repealing the PLCAA.

Long has the president made it known that he intends to take away manufacturers’ “liability shields,” as his press secretary also misleadingly labeled the PLCAA. In a recent press conference, Biden said that if he could ask God for one thing, it would be this.

Let's have government officials lose their special protections for crimes they commit, including criminal liability for every crime committed by one of their wards that they insist the taxpayers fund.

Any politician who signs a law for the release of a criminal is to be held personally responsible for the actions of that criminal.

Any politician who signs a law that taxpayer fund food, clothing, or shelter of a criminal is to be held personally responsible for the actions of that criminal, especially illegal aliens.

Lame excuses from “Republicans”? Yes, we’ve seen that over and over again from Cornyn. Always talks up gun rights when he needs money and votes, but quick demurs once reelected. Shameful loser.

Easy solution is for gun manufacturers to refuse to sell guns to any government agency. They should have done this a long time ago. Once the message is received and these legislative threats are stopped then gun makers should still refuse to sell to any agency. What they do instead is lease the guns only, along with service contracts that would provide lucrative income streams.

Agreed. I'd be willing to bet that if manufacturers did this, the government would simply have the army confiscate their inventory. Its not like the government doesn't already exempt itself from every other law.

Yeh, GOP majority headcount is imperative. So, if it requires a few RINO’s to achieve it then so be it. Remember, the Speaker of the House and Senate Majority leader have the gavels and sets the agendas.

It’s a blatant attempt to bankrupt firearms manufacturers and dealers through expensive litigation because no one really believes that the higher courts will ultimately hold manufacturers liable for criminal misuse of their legal product.
