WATCH: Hoover Institution Visiting Fellow Rips Biden’s ‘Unrealistic’ Climate Fanaticism

Hoover Institution Visiting Fellow Bjorn Lomborg joined Fox Business to discuss his recent op-ed lambasting President Joe Biden’s eco-extremist agenda.

Lomborg’s op-ed called Biden’s agenda “unrealistic” and “implausible.” Lomborg swatted down the assertion that climate policies make us “richer.” Biden’s “own [climate] summit showed the need for arm-twisting even just to make a few of the participants promise expensive new policies,” Lomborg wrote.

Lomborg told Fox Business host Larry Kudlow on April 23 that Biden was “promising twice as much reduction as what [former President Barack] Obama did.” He continued: “That’s not only going to be incredibly hard to do — and as you mentioned, it’s going to cause a lot of hardship in a lot of different ways — it’s also going to be fantastically expensive.” Lomborg assessed that Biden’s $2 trillion plan is equivalent to spending “$1,500 per person per year on climate.” Lomborg noted that “surveys show that people are not even willing to spend $20,$24 on it. That sets it up for not working out in the long run.”

Lomborg then dismantled Biden’s unicorn climate fantasies. “You’re not going to solve global warming by simply making grand promises that you can’t afford and that won’t really make a difference. You’re going to solve it through innovation,” Lomborg said. “[I]t’s kind of surprising that we have this one area of the world — climate change — where you can just make promises worth trillions and not do a simple cost-benefit analysis on it.”

Bjorn is always worth a listen and a read. I don’t agree with him on lots of things, but he is honest, consistent, and rational in his diagnosis of the radical greens and politicians beholden to them.

Sigh.

It's the Sun. This is not a problem to "solve".

I have now dealt with enough aging relatives and other people to recognize that Biden is no longer concerned about anything beyond not pooping his pants. There is no compelling agenda he is interested in beyond which pudding he’s getting at the next meal. While it appears he has lucid moments, those moments are getting fewer, shorter and have longer intervals between them. I am not saying that because he’s a Democrat and I don’t like what they stand for. This is my honest opinion of his performance; divorced from my feelings about the man and his thieving, criminal ways.

Lomborg acknowledges that the climates of the world have slowly warmed a bit since the end of the Little Ice Age. He also maintains that the consequences are mostly insignificant and ordinary human adaptability will be sufficient without backbreaking expenditures and devastation of lifestyle. For this common sense view backed by real empirical evidence and economic analysis, he is demonized and shunned by the climate nazi cabal.

What benefit is there on a cost/benefit analysis of the climate? It’s been shown time & time again that spending the big money they want to control climate is a fool’s errand. Why does it seem to be that the dumbest, least qualified people in this country are so often(but not always)the ones getting elected to high government offices? This is the opposite of what it ought to be. Then, after they are elected, why do they instantly forget what they are put in place to do... the will of the ones who voted for them? Maybe it’s high time we started electing a few brilliant high school students. They surely could not do much worse than many who are currently “serving” our country.

The “benefit” is the destruction of Capitalism.

The cost they are willing for us to pay is infinite.

Understand exactly what you are saying. Expressing our dis-satisfaction with what these people are needs to continue until they finally get the message. If they don’t get the message, then we can hope that those in Congress who DO understand it will start building a fire under the ones who don’t. The only other way through this mess is using force & that’s not called for unless more peaceful means are totally exhausted. Seems like we might be approaching that point.
