Watched “Catch-22” with hubby tonight. So many stars in the movie and all so young! Hubby read the book, which impressed me.

Sloughterhouse 5 was better, quirky, wierd ending, but was humourous, moreso than Catch-22.
Marvel actually had a fantastic tone in the entire Cap/Thor/Iron Man/Avengers saga. Regardless of the writers’ politics, the theme of a Bill Gates-like Thanos wanting to kill half the universe for “balance” was unmistakable. Likewise, many of the lines (esp. in “Avengers 1”) were memorable.
Black Widow: “Cap, you can’t go after them Those guys are gods.”
Cap: “There’s only one God, ma’am, and I’m pretty sure He doesn’t dress like that.”
Yes. He is the ONLY Captain America.
I finished “Falcon and Winter Soldier.” Blah.
The Cap shield takes away from Falcon’s real abilities, but the shield doesn’t work without a real super soldier to work it. Stupid direction.
Villains were horrible. Way too dark to see anything. Poor compared to “WandaVision,” which was entertaining, non-preachy, and innovative.
“...and anything else not contained in this manual...” It’s like being handed a coloring book and being expected to color within the lines, but they can come along and change the coloring book, and then declare you to have been coloring outside these NEW lines they just created.”
I believe that’s known as “moving the goalposts”. Very common in most, if not all, bureaucracies. Despicable behavior as you never know when that “gotcha” moment is gonna rear it’s ugly head.
Also, in the movie Civil War there is an argument about where power should lie. Stark wants the Government to be in charge of the Avengers; Cap believes that the power is best left in their own hands. Toward the end of the movie, you see that Stark's govt. approach has all of the Avengers sitting in jail cells. Stark seems surprised by this; but, we know that this is where the govt. control will lead. Cap was right.
The other thing that people who dismiss these films as simply "comic book movies" are missing a lot of very entertaining films. Another amazing thing about these films is that the Producers put together a string of 18-20 (don't remember the exact number) movies that fit together, one following the other and all culminating in the final two movies that tie everything together.

I the the 4 Averngers movies (encompassing the other 14) was motion picture genius that land them collectively as one of the single greatest movies ever.
My dad, your day the heighborhood dads, my uncles (7), all went through a lot of hell, and made it. Every one of my uncles and my father was in the thick of it.
