Gutfeld isn't always serious in the comment he makes. He sometimes tosses out absurd or opposite statements as a lightning rod for feedback from his panel.

In this case, Gutfeld was saying what a lot of people were thinking--particularly frightened city dwellers. Gutfeld was deeply affected by the NYC riots last year and the complete lack of effort by NY state and local governments to protect the taxpaying citizens.
I give him a pass for this one, and respect that he verbalized what a lot of his big city neighbors were thinking. He surely prompted a dialogue.
