Is it even ethical for a prosecutor to tell the jury to disregard government evidence in the case?

How can that not be a mistrial?

#15. The special prosecutor might ask, suggest or tell the jury to disregard “government evidence” in this case, but if the jury isn’t braindead, they can see that this is a move of case-losing desperation and a possible cover-up of important information.

All it takes is one sharp juror to raise this issue in their closed door decision period and Chauvin walks.

You may be on to something...sabotage.
Get the conviction, BLM is happy...quietly file for mistrial and retry on lesser charges.
