(EDITOR’S NOTE: At this time there is no confirmation about where the “three people briefed on the matter” who spoke to the New York Times are employed – whether by the FBI, the US Attorney’s office in Florida, the USDOJ in Washington DC, on Capitol Hill, or whether they’re three individuals to whom the information was leaked. We have major concerns about supposedly serious newsrooms reporting about ongoing criminal probes in which no charges have been filed basing their story entirely upon information from anonymous sources whose connection to the investigation isn’t even revealed, and whether or not those anonymous sources were with the FBI the fact remains that someone involved in the probe – someone involved with the US government in some manner – purposely leaked this information for political gain. If we are ever to have confidence in the integrity of USDOJ and FBI investigations, these leaks need to be investigated and prosecuted.)

Really, it should bother everyone, no matter their feelings on Gaetz, that the FBI can just leak something like this, to attack someone in such a blatantly political way. When you are facing an anonymous allegation, you can’t respond to it in any effective manner. Just last night, the reporter behind the Times story appeared on Rachel Maddow’s show and countered Gaetz’s claim about the man he named, yet she did so offering no proof whatsoever. These games are rigged, and you aren’t supposed to be able to defend yourself.
Notice how tightly sewn up the FBI has been about the current Hunter Biden investigation and the myriad of other past transgressions by the president’s son. Their lips only seem to get loose when a Republican is in the cross-hairs, and that should bother everyone. It’s corruption, and it deserves the scorn it receives.
Further, this makes the FBI look really stupid. You’re telling me that the FBI needs a multi-year investigation to prove whether Gaetz traveled with a 17-year-old? Shouldn’t that be readily apparent or quickly disproven given the simplicity of the evidence involved?
If the FBI is not going to charge Gaetz for anything, and they should know by now whether he did anything wrong, then they should come out publicly and slap this report down. By letting it hang in the air, it makes them look like they are part of the political play here, and perhaps they are. It also makes them look incompetent, and again, perhaps they are.
There need to be major reforms within the FBI and DOJ in regards to securing information about investigations. This constant stream of anti-Republican leaking to outlets like the Times and The Washington Post is gross and wrong. But you aren’t going to get those reforms with the current leadership so expect this kind of thing to continue and for it to always go in one direction.

If the fbi was disbanded, the democrats would lose an ally, conservatives would lose an enemy, and the country would be safer.

Does anybody with an IQ above 10 REALLY believe that the fbi is anything more than thugocracy working for the left? They are not “investigators”, they are thugs who use the power of government for political purposes... (MORE SPECIFICALLY - COMMUNISM). They no longer work for us. The entirety of the corrupted organization needs to be disbanded. The building flattened. And a very good memoir made of what a corrupt bunch they have been, are and will be if allowed to continue. It always makes me want to wretch every time I hear some idiot say something about the “good people” of the fbi. I think I had three encounters with the fbi, of course that’s been some time... but the bottom line is they ARE NOT COPS! They don’t really give a crap who did what. All they give a crap about is finding some poor soul to blame and use to further their climb up the globalist ladder. Richard Jewell, Branch Davidians, Randy Weaver, connoly and whitey bulger... Do you REALLY think they give a crap about “WHO” robbed the bank? All they care about is finding someone to pin it on. Problem solved, then it’s “miller time”. That’s what Richard Jewell, the Branch Davidians, Randy Weaver and many others have discovered at their own pain. An fbi agent doesn’t care about the truth. All he cares about is furthering his own pathetic political career at your expense. They are a puny predator hiding behind lies while knowing that you are “defenseless” in their corrupt courts that shake you down of anything of value to them.
