As I reflect on the importance of MS Awareness Month, it has been 16 years now since I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, though, looking back, I had symptoms of the disease for much longer.
My journey living with an unpredictable, often frustrating and sometimes debilitating disease can be quite scary, but what started out as a very dark time has been filled with hope and optimism. Some of that is attitude, but lately I’ve been reading that there is even something tangible on the horizon:
A possible vaccine....
... News of a vaccine could be a game-changer. I tried to find out more about this incredible breakthrough, so I called my neurologist Dr. Tracy DeAngelis who has been my doctor (and cheerleader) for over a decade.
Dr. DeAngelis says the vaccine is very promising. it’s based on the same breakthrough mRNA technology that has brought us the COVID-19 vaccine....
... Dr. DeAngelis says one of the great advantages of a potential MS vaccine would be that patients would no longer need to take chronic medications that suppress their immune system, which run the risk of side effects, such as infections.
The vaccine could also potentially prevent the disease from progressing and even improve existing symptoms.
And then there’s this even better news: It could even stop the illness from even happening....

And to think... it’s coming from the evil new mRNA technology. /sarc
This mRNA technology will turn out to be the magic genie for a wide range of diseases. I predict a cure for cancer is close at hand. We can thank President Trump for fast forwarding this breakthrough in science to practical application.
Too much money in cancer. They will not allow a (cure) because there is too much profit!

Oh, we’ll can’t allow this vaccine to be administered until there is at least fifteen years of testing to insure it doesn’t cause all sorts of complications like bad breath.
My wife died Thursday of the effects of MS. She was 51. She’s free from pain and suffering now.
Fortunately, no matter the greed of the cancer treatment industry, there are also lots of greedy scientists, researchers, and businessman around the world who eye the billions to be made by actually curing cancer. With freedom and competition, the greed thing eventually works for the best.
My condolences to you and family.
And as you put it, she is now free from pain.
Condolences from the Mad House.
RIP.
Very sorry for your loss. It is hard to watch some one you love go through that. My dad had Ms.

Deuteronomy 18:14 ESV
For these nations, which you are about to dispossess, listen to fortune-tellers and to diviners. But as for you, the Lord your God has not allowed you to do this.
Agreed.
The whole transgender craze is about pushing more drugs and procedures on youth.
What good would a vaccine do for someone who already has the disease?
Vaccines are used to acquire imminuty to infectious disease. Unless something new has been discovered, MS is not an infectious disease. Does this writer have a clue?
What freedom and competition?
I was thinking that as well. Funny how with a bit of butt kicking by Trump they can come up with a vaccine for Covid in 10 months but all these other diseases that take in tons of money nothing seems to surface for decades.
‘Vaccine’ can be shorthand for a bunch of treatments that only resemble a vaccine in dosing and gross operation, especially since the advent of gene therapy.

Some of these ideas, should they work, would have as much in common with prophylactic vaccines as the SR-71 has in common with Leonardo da Vinci’s hang glider design. Sure, they’re both aircraft, but there’s not much similarity past that.
Sorry to hear it, terrible and at such a young age. May she rest in peace. I will say a prayer for her today.
To be fair, a lot of the COVID vaccines are coming out of technology originally developed to try to create an HIV vaccine. Some things are a lot harder than others - for example, until recently there was no vaccine for Ebola, which was discovered to be a threat in 1976. Johnson and Johnson got the first approval (in the EU) for an Ebola vaccine that has been shown to work last year. Prior vaccine attempts either did nothing... or actually gave the patient the disease because apparently the damn virus doesn’t have a safe attenuation level.
Between nations, if nothing else. Not just the US but also Britain, Israel, and Japan are medical innovators looking to profit worldwide from advances they pioneer. By some measures, Israel’s medical field is the most entrepreneurial and competitive in the world. Israel would eagerly promote a cure for cancer as both a commercial and strategic advantage.
