PINGGG!.....................
10 forward gears and a Georgia overdrive.
How anyone can look at that fine engineering and think that hey just “evolved” has been hornswoggled by Satan.
It is kind of odd that they are talking about this like it was just discovered. I remember reading about it years ago. Here is an article from 2013 discussing it - and it even has the same picture (albeit uncropped) that appears in this new article.

Funny, I was expecting molecular level gears. Functional proteins can be considered as tiny mechanical devices; muscle movement occurs because of the actions of countless tiny engines (called actin) ratcheting their way along countless tiny fibers (called myosin).
At the molecular level, all living things are nothing but masses of molecule sized machines.
Please avoid posting from this site - its as fake as articles from the Smithsonian.

Prokaryotic flagella run in a rotary movement, while eukaryotic flagella run in a bending movement. The prokaryotic flagella use a rotary motor, and the eukaryotic flagella use a complex sliding filament system. Eukaryotic flagella are ATP-driven, while prokaryotic flagella can be ATP-driven (Archaea) or proton-driven (Bacteria).
Here is a close-up of the fully rotating flagellum (it even has ring seals and stators) :

It was reported months ago. Even so, very, very, cool!
