Sometimes it gets the Mick Jagger stuff right.
Tech doesn’t even have to be that “high” or new to have had an impact. Cheap cars became mobile motel rooms for hookups in the 50’s that kicked off the sexual revolution. A/C makes it possible to manufacture anything, anywhere so goodbye manufacturing sector, etc.
SILF = Snowflakes I'd Like to Forget.
Good point and his manifesto literally explores that very idea. He describes how people used to walk everywhere, and then what happened when the car arrived. How soon even those who eschewed the car found they could no longer walk as they pleased, that it was illegal in some places, dangerous in others, and that cities began to grow in ways that demanded a car so walking became less and less possible for most people.
He also talked about electricity and telephones.
He seemed to not be so much attacking those as much as using them as a simplistic example to illustrate the effect of the much bigger expanding tech of the 90s.
God only knows what he thinks about all of this today, or if he is aware. I doubt they let him have internet there in supermax.
” Cheap cars became mobile motel rooms for hookups in the 50’s that kicked off the sexual revolution.”
Many observers claim that actually started in the 1920s. When Model-T’s and Model-A’s started flooding America, the walking date to the ice-cream shop, or courting on the front porch swing became a drive to somewhere private outside of town.
Often, people who are viewed as fanatics and viewed as crazy, aren't.
Jesus was thought of that way, He was a radical for his time.
If the Unabomber hadn't mailed bombs, he'd have been fine. Problem is, he'd never have been noticed.
Similar to how all those Jihadist suicide bombers were "cowards".
I'm sure they all had bad breath, BO, and were bad in bed as well.
Awww, somebunny’s gotta crush.
Ted,
Lunch is over. Back to your cell
Gross!
These two were made for each other.
I’d make Ted a gift of her, just make sure he has a vasectomy first.
