Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) reintroduced The Background Check Expansion Act, legislation that would expand federal background checks on all gun sales, including private transactions.

Rep. Mike Thompson (D-CA) also reintroduced companion legislation in the House.

S. 42 states that the Act “prohibits a firearm transfer between private parties unless a licensed gun dealer, manufacturer, or importer first takes possession of the firearm to conduct a background check.”

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, one of 43 Democrats who have co-sponsored the bill, said now is the time to act on expanding background checks.

Universal Background Checks is backdoor registration, which is a precursor to confiscation.

They won’t require that for criminals who buy guns as easily as they buy illegal drugs. This is for the honest, non-violent people.

No delegated power for the move.

Just as there is no delegated power for all federal gun control laws.

The 10th Amendment is the controlling Law.

They aren’t worried about guns in the hands of gangsters.

It’s the ones in the hands of law-abiding citizens that worries them.

I wonder why?

If they really wanted more background checks, they’d make the system open and free to use.

What they want instead is to make it harder and more expensive for people to buy and sell firearms.

= = =

CA, as a state, already does this. All ‘private party’ sales are to be done through an FFL, and include a background check.

Some situations in some states do not do this.

Note the (D-CA) is spreading his tentacles.

Regulating nonviolent compliant citizens while letting the violent criminals continue onwards. Like the bible says, “ in the last days... lawlessness will increase”.

A good litmus test for ANY gun legislation. How does this get guns out of the hands of criminals? Oh, it doesn't? Thanks for playing....

I sat out the Georgia runoffs so that the Democrats would take the Senate and then could pass legislation like this.

The federal gun laws state that gun transfers between states have to be done through a gun dealer in the buyer’s state that must do the yellow sheet which is a background check. These morons should read what laws are already on the books.
