DeSantis Rips ‘Failed Republican Establishment’ During Fiery Speech

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis tore into the anti-Trump wing of the GOP, deriding them as the “failed Republican establishment” during a speech.

His comments are further evidence that the possible 2024 contender for the Republican presidential nominee is firmly aligning himself with the former President in the party’s ongoing civil war.

“We cannot, we will not, go back to the days of the failed Republican establishment of yesteryear,” DeSantis said.

“We reject open borders and instead support American sovereignty and the American worker,” he continued in a speech practically ripped from the Trump playbook.

“Building a movement on amnesty and cheap foreign labor is like building a house on a field of quicksand.”

I think Trump would rather pass on the torch to someone who is capable, rather than running for President at his age. He’ll run if he has to, but I think Trump wants to see if DeSantis has the stuff.

How DeSantis fares in his re-election bid will be the tell. The Democrats are going to throw everything at him, and if he prevails, it’s going to be pretty tough to stop him from the nomination.

“We reject open borders and instead support American sovereignty and the American worker,”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That’s the position of the voters, most of the elected GOP are on the other side.
The 145 in the House that voted to retain Liz Cheney in leadership confirmed that.
I’m not impressed with more speechifying. This is all hot air in response to the GOP establishment colluding with Democrats for 4 years on the coup and and then certifying the stolen election.
As a Floridian, I got no complaints.
Except for the only mistake he made in 2018 - not taking the gloves totally off re Andrew crack snorting closeted gay loser Gillum. He nearly lost that race. I don't think he will every make that mistake again.
” I think Trump wants to see if DeSantis has the stuff.”
Politicians are not lacking in the pretense of being copycats and DeSantis is clearly with this no different.
It’s not like it’s hard to see the writing on the wall. Everyone has access to pollsters and China Mitch was DOA when he flapped his gumlets against President Trump.
But the word I’ve heard is DeSantis is not pro-Trump. He’s close to the GOPe and he may have his own ideas and unlike President Trump, he can not advance under his own power.
They all require not only money but YUGE money to run and think what a 2024 race will cost.
????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
A bit strange then, how Trump went all in for DeSantis, rather than my guy, the former Ag Commissioner.
Florida isn’t the US Presidency.
President Trump went all-in with “Maybe I’ll win a third time.”
