On Friday, February 12th, Utah’s Governor Spencer Cox signed a bill making Constitutional Carry the law in Utah. On Thursday, February 18th, Governor Greg Gianforte’s first priority for this legislative session has been signing a Constitutional Carry/eliminating gun-free zone, and it is now on his desk.
That might not be all this year. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has also announced that Constitutional Carry is a priority for him this year.

TX lagged with CCW pretty bad and put tons of restrictions on it when they got it. Wouldn’t surprise me if this never happens here or is one of the last red states to do it.
The gun laws here pale to many now.
We need Florida now.

Initially that was true, but now it’s so easy a cave man can get one.
Seriously, the issue I have with constitutional carry is now even those not qualified to carry a weapon attempts to blend in with those who do.
In other words, when a cop stops me, he already knows I am a CCL holder. He also knows I’ve had a background clearance from the DPS and FBI, so he is reasonably comfortable dealing with me, particularly if I am upfront whether my firearm is with/on me.
Constitutional carry negates this edge when dealing with law enforcement. Now, without any sort of guarantee, the officer has no idea if I am a felon with a firearm or not.
Besides this, I kinda like folks who carry to have been to class to learn the do’s and don’ts of concealed/open carry, rights and responsibilities, the range training, what to do in case you have to use your weapon.
I see goodness in all the above, however still understanding that the government shouldn’t bless us with the right when the right is already afforded by way of the 2nd amendment.
That said, I’ve been with so many people that are not that familiar with a weapon and the FIRST damn thing they do when picking up a weapon...slip their finger into the trigger guard and wrap that puppy right around the trigger. Almost every time without fail. The other is muzzle awareness.
Ever been to a gun range and watched a green firearm owner? Yea, can be quite entertaining if it weren’t so dangerous. I’ve even witnessed accidental discharges..one recently, a dude was showing another how to use a shotgun at the skeet range. As soon as he passed the shotgun off to the greenie, the greenie stepped forward to position for the skeet shoot and discharged the weapon into the ground in front of him.
Wrapped his finger around the trigger like a numb skull.
Keep your booger-hook off the bang switch!!
Florida AND Texas should do likewise. Would love to see it.
Won’t matter when they outlaw bullets.
It is way past time for Texas to join this club.
I love Texas. But, when I travel there my concealed carry permit is not recognized, even though I have legally carried concealed for years and have a squeaky clean criminal record. Of all place....Texas!

And the sooner the better!
It's not just the Demonrats. In my allegedly "red" (=conservative) state, we can't get our Republican 'legislators' to come away from their soirrees long enough to even pass a pro-2nd Amendment bill out of committee. USELESS.
I applaud those states that are doing this. I guess I made a bad choice moving here, and might find myself loaded up like the Beverly Hillbillies, and moving to one of these states, like a Jew fleeing The Regime That Must Not Be Named Lest a Liberal Tut-Tut You.
The previous GOP governor of Tennessee also “supported constitutional carry”, knowing full well that the General Assembly did not. BTW, the GA in Tennessee is 75% Republican and has been for several years.
What state? I thought we had reciprocity with everyone.
We need GA but David Ralston the criminal RINO will not let our bill on the floor for a vote.
Due to covid, Adams County, Colorado is allowing mail in renewals. Plus, they have a military/veteran discount.
My 5-year CCW renewal this time will only be $38.
There are now 18 Constitutional Carry states.
Vermont has always had Constitutional Carry.
It has one of the lowest crime and firearms accident rates in the nation.
15 other states have restored Constitutional Carry since 2003. There has been no measurable increase in homicides in those states.
Fatal firearm accidents are at historical lows throughout the nation, even as restrictions on the carry of firearms have been removed.
Curious. Do you have a link to those statistics. They’d be very interesting if true.
I’ve not found specific articles or data that speak directly to constitutional carry and rates of homicides/accidental deaths.
