Daughter of Lombardi Trophy maker wants Tom Brady to apologize for throwing it from yacht

The daughter of the silversmith who made the original Vince Lombardi Trophy is upset that Tom Brady threw this year’s version from a boat after winning his seventh Super Bowl.

Grohs’ father, Greg Grohs, was the silversmith who originally created the trophy given annually to the Super Bowl champions.

Didn't watch the game. Glad Tom Brady won because he's one of the few good guys left in the NFL. Thought this was amusing. Some girl is OFFENDED that said Tom Brady, probably slightly intoxicated with avocado tequila, tossed a trophy across the pristine blue ocean waters of Florida to Rob Gronkowski (another good guy) on another boat.

NHL Stanley Cup winners have a tradition where each player gets care of the cup for a day or so. Some of the stories about where the Cup was taken and what was done with it are minor legends. I don’t k ow if its still a tradition. I live near Philly and we have only had a few sniffs at the Cup since it was last won in 1975.

I would suggest that this woman needs to lighten up. No insult was meant.

She might have a small point if her father hand crafted the one which Brady threw, but not for the 55th copy of his original. I suggest she read the history of the Stanley Cup - that is a trophy which has been abused.

Tell her to get a life. Since when has the Lombardi Trophy been sanctified as a national treasure. Its OK to tear down statues of George Washington but don’t touch the Lombardi Trophy

From the snippet, it would be easy to assume that Brady was re-enacting the scene from “Titanic” where the old woman threw the jewel from the boat into the ocean where it would be lost forever. Brady “threw the trophy from the yacht”.

But Gronkowski caught it, so nothing really happened at all.

This is Bobby Orr drinking from the Stanley Cup back in 1972.

I grew up with the Bruins and Bobby Orr.

Orr reminds me a lot of Tom Brady. I think they could have been brothers.

Shame about Orr's knee issues however. He would have broken every single NHL scoring record if not for that bum knee.
