I like gasbuddy, although it used to be better.
Au contraire! They fart the hydrocarbon gas known as methane! π€π€π€π€π€
In 1970 my Dad got his first ‘good’ job as a Mechanical Engineer and we moved from Milwaukeestan to outside of Madistan in Wisconsin.
Folks bought a nice ‘starter home’ and had a 22% mortgage! After a few months, Grandpa said, ‘This is stupid,’ and he bought the house from them and they paid him a much lower interest rate loan from, ‘The Bank of Grandpa.’ ;)
Not everyone was that lucky, though I still remember all the moms in the neighborhood working together to stretch a buck, chatting over coupon clipping, sharing budget-friendly recipes, buying bushels of produce at the Farmer’s Market to can at home and swapping outgrown clothes from the big kids to the little kids.
I joined the Army for better opportunities after high school; there were no jobs, no gasoline most days, and just ridiculous prices on everything. I couldn’t afford college on my own, so the Army helped me.
And we’re STILL paying Carter’s way. Just cash it in, old man. You’ve done enough to harm America. Jerk.
That's part of it. I live in Lake County, Indiana, one of the the blue parts of the state. Just a few blocks down from me is the sixth largest oil refinery in the country. It provides lots of jobs and revenue for local communities. The high school sports teams are called the Oilers. There is a collegiate baseball league in the region and the local team is called the Oilmen. They play in Oil City Stadium. Everyone who has been paying attention at all knows what the Democrat energy policy is. My town went 61-66% for Biden. I hope I am still around to see what happens here when we are "weaned off" petroleum.
There will be no considerable inflation. Yes, some things will become more expensive but real inflation (higher interest rates) would destroy the country with the amount of debt we have. The Fed will never let it happen, and introduce formal Yield Curve Control. Our future will involve a painful deflationary insolvency period. If our interest rates ever do actually increase to “normal” levels (5+%) because they lose control, it will truly be the beginning of the end.
Please let it be so.
He’s our Carter; bring on Reagan.
Fifty-mile per hour speed limits to return as well as long gas lines; alternate day fueling your car, wear sweaters, turn the thermostat down to 65, etc.
First, as others have noted, the government will "fix" the inflation rate to lower it, just as under Obama a 16 ounce container of food was resized to 12 ounces but kept at the same price meant "zero" inflation.
Second, a 16% real unemployment rate will be reduced to 6% because of not counting workers who gave up looking for work, and so it will show "full employment" without inflation and without a need for more "stimulus".
Third, any increase in demand will show up in even more bloated trade deficits as we import more goods, keeping prices down.
Fourth, the Federal Reserve can just hike interest rates or increase deposit requirements at any time, instantly withdrawing liquidity.
Fifth, most of the stimulus will wind up in the pockets of the banks and upper classes, where it will show up as asset inflation not counted in the consumer price index.
Hope you all feel better now about inflation.
They do but Iβll say it, Trump just is no Reagan. If he was heβd be unquestionably president today.
It’s a much different country now than it was in Reagan’s time.
Like I have been saying for a year, Joe Biden is Jimmy Carter lite! He will do similar things and in 4 years accomplish nothing.
Yes, but in some ways it was worse. And Reagan is still a better man who proved it.
Oh, yeah, I feel much better now. Where’s my wine?
Welcome to Malaise II.
Yes, but be ready for seeing Covid lockdowns coming from the Feds, thanks to Biden’s open-border invitation to covid positive illegal immigrants and human traffickers from Mexico.

When people’s purchasing power drops, they will notice.

Agree. Accelerating inflation is going to be a wake up call for a lot of people. Just a couple years of sharply rising prices can affect one’s lifestyle and spending habits in a major way.

Inflation
Now
Make useless slogan pins great again.
That was Gerald Ford, not Carter.
We need to be truthful, Trump did little to curtail spending.
He did what he could by trying to get efficiency and reduced regulations.
