Since President Trump is out of office, this seems unlikely. One scenario I can think of would be due to the “resistance” - the people like Comey, but in the intelligence agencies - may have blocked this report from coming out officially, earlier. I’m envisioning that someone one (like Richard Grenell, just to pick a name at random, but someone with access to intelligence) leaked this unofficially, based on some very real analysis that was earlier suppressed.

I have no idea what you mean; this makes no sense in my mind because you argued earlier that remote Mac lookup is impossible. (Please elaborate.)
I perhaps wasn’t clear. MAC addresses don’t lost in the first skip on the way to a destination. For that reason you can’t even look up the MAC address of your own computer, while you can easily look up the IP address.
That still may not be clear, because I only use end-user terminology.
