I perhaps wasn’t clear. MAC addresses don’t lost in the first skip on the way to a destination. For that reason you can’t even look up the MAC address of your own computer, while you can easily look up the IP address.

That still may not be clear, because I only use end-user terminology.

This is how you can look up the MAC address of your own computer. You launch a command prompt, then type:

ipconfig /all

Look for “Physical Address”.
