In 1983, then Dem Rep Phil Gramm resigned his seat in Congress because he was switching parties and becoming a Republican. He wanted voters to decide whether they wanted him as a republican. A special election was held and he won convincingly.
I’d hope Gaetz would be able to do the same - resign, defend Trump in the trial and then run in a special election for his seat.
Last I heard from him he was droning on about people in a wagon, who should be out of the wagon in order to push new people in the wagon. I think it was a red wagon.
