Independence.

Puerto Rico deserves to be free from US dominance and take its longed place among the nations of the world.

Seems like it would be very similar to Wash DC.
The Dems certainly would welcome 4 additional locked in Senators.

This subject has been talked about for years.

And frequently people say we need to resolve the status of Puerto Rico, that we need to determine its ultimate status.

And the choices seem to be i independence or statehood.

What I never understand is what is wrong with the status quo? Why can’t they just stay a territory?

It’s a no brainer for Dems.
2 more locked in Senators, just like DC.
They’d be crazy not to push both those deals.

The last I checked,, which has been a while, the issue of PR’s future status is up to the PR people. They have had plebiscites over the years, and always so far voted to keep the status quo.

Since the Great Recession of 2008, 20% of Puerto Rico's population has moved to the USA mainland.

The two largest concentrations of Puerto Ricans are metro New York City and central Florida.

The Solutions:
1. Immediate independence for Puerto Rico.
2. No more talk of D.C. statehood take away its electoral votes. IT was never designed to be a state. Any D.C. resident not accepting that is free to move to a state.

Amen. Cut them loose, let them fend for themselves without US taxpayer dollars.

It's time to end the days of building a a buffer zone around the USA by paying countries to 'like us'.
Cheaper and faster to pummel the crap out of anyone that messes with us and let them spend the next 50 years rebuilding from the rubble.
The nation building peacekeeper guardians of democracy policy has not worked in 70 years. PR adds no value to the USA - cut it loose.

I asked the same question when I lived on Guam. It appeared to me that Guam had a really good deal.

The main problem with Puerto Rico is that it’s filled with Puerto Ricans

I used to frequent Puerto Rico with a Cuban consultant - he used to say the same thing
