OK—Just for the sake of argument—say they win and they ban Trump from ever holding a Federal elective office/ In 2022, when the House and Senate swing back to the GOP, they can just cancel it all out. If Trump can’t run, he will put up his son, Don Jr. for president and when he wins appoint his father as Sec. of State. Besides the whole trial will be tossed out as unconstitutional (Even Justice Roberts couldn’t block that).
True if we took back the house and senate we could reverse it.
It’s highly likely the impeachment will fail given that 45 GOP senators already voted that it was unconstitutional. They don’t have the votes.
They likely don’t have the votes to use the 14th amendment to declare Trump ineligible either as they would need to overcome a filibuster.
