Only the 2d pictures are dangerous. They are black and have scary looking pistol like grips. They probably shoot 500k rounds a second in fully semi-automatic mode. /s

” You mean like a B.A.R. (16-19 lbs)

Or an M-60 (23 lb)? “

No.

As a class of military weapons, a sniper rifle is lightweight duty.

But as a civilian, you don’t want to lug around a 14lb rifle.

Your blog is nice

Don’t mind the scolds....

My best rifle is a half stock

Mannlicher ...Steyer Daimler Puch

Twisted Damascus steel...or so they say

I think Lebanese cedar stock

Khales 2x12.5 56 mm glass

It’s so accurate

But.....in .243......I have had to look for white tails even with heart lung shots

Best bet is ballistic tip and aim for front quarter bone damage

But u lose venison

I’m old now

So I use a .50 or .54 front loader with huge non sabot lead...

Or a .35 Whelen with a cheap Russian scope...they don’t go far when 250 grains expanding tip hits them

I love that Whelen

Did I say perfect deer and anything else caliber for old men who want to find deer when after they fall out of their stand getting down...

And if those middle TN ridge Grizzlies show up

I’m ready...

Whoever wrote this is a moron.

The title sounds like something a democrat or CNN would say.

A rifle is no more dangerous than a rock.

Glad I could type.

The Barrett also is not a sniper rifle nut its anti material. The US Army even had no 50 BMG sniper round. Also the Mosin is a crappy standard rifle with some built better. Not sure why these rifles are in the list and no IW.

Yep, just look how one former marine with a Carcano rifle changed history...

A knowledgeable accurate writer does not use the term "former marine " or even "marine" uncapitalized as a proper noun.

With few exceptions, there are no "ex-Marines" or "former Marines," U. S. or British.

As of 13 September 1960, Lee Harvey Oswald (click here) became one of those exceptions.

Please accept this correction as a well-meant improvement to your writing for the honor and history of the United States Marine Corps.

I know the rules about Marines, but I figured LHO was an exception to the rule.

“Navy Swift boater huh?”
Yes, 2 years on swift boats ‘69-’71.
We did have a sniper in our group; he was also a SEAL. His rate was photographer’s mate 1st class. He shot a lot of my better VN War photos. The ones I took were using a Kodak 110 and typical for someone who didn’t know photography or how to take a good photo.
