I do as well. Each 4473 contains the model and serial number of the firearm purchased as well as the identity of the purchaser. That information is retained at the FFL level for at least 20 years and may be called upon by subpoena, and is passed to the BATFE if that FFL holder goes out of business. And anyone who actually thinks that the FBI deletes it after completion of the NICS check as they are required by law to do thinks more of the integrity of that organization than I do.
Truly shows the confidence people have in the Democrats
I bought a new Sig P365 this past year and a couple weeks ago went to an indoor range with a buddy to shoot it. Unbeknownst to me, the range did not allow any steel cased ammo and that's all I had. The range didn't even have any brass ammo to sell me but at least my buddy had a box he gave me so it wasn't a wasted trip.
They list the gun, the buyer and the serial number. By law they are supposed to destroy this NICS form if you pass the background check in 24 hrs. If you are denied essentially it goes into the FBI database the way I read the law.
The feds are supposedly prevented from creating a gun registration database, but since when has the ATF/FBI/DOJ obeyed any law?
Form 4473 records individual information pertaining to the firearm and buyer. The numbers reported by the FBI only record NICS background checks. Call them yourself and confirm, like I did.

Easy way to east the problem?
Open up imported pistol and rifle primers to US.
That is logical? But not to the ammo manufacturers in the US.
And not to Thieving Politicians in DC. They are afraid of us already.
Considering that price, it makes more sense to buy a Ghost Gunner 3d gun printer.
It doesn’t seem to take investigators very long to trace the history of a weapon if it’s used in a crime. If they have the weapon in hand, the manufacturer is known. I assume that they maintain records of where they sent them...through an FFL...and the gun distributor of dealer can produce records of who they sold the gun to. In many jurisdictions it is no longer legal to sell a firearm without involving an FFL holder.
On days when I’ve purchased guns from different dealers, I get a discount on the second NICS fee. That may be why they hold the record for 24 hours, and have it readily available.
“That’s a lotta 13-page BATFE forms...and $200 fees."

You, apparently, are not a (legal) firearms purchaser.
You just described a "NFA" form and $200 fee -- required for purchase and registration of full-auto firearms, short-barreled weapons, suppressors, etc.
Ordinary firearm purchases/transfers are recorded on ATF form 4473 -- which (last time I checked) requires NO FEE and is completed by a civilian purchaser at a FFL dealer.
ATF form 4473, apparently, has recently been revised. It is now six (6) pages, of which 3.5 pages are printed "NOTICES, INSTRUCTIONS, AND DEFINITIONS" --and only 2.5 pages are the "form" which must be filled out by the transferree and the FFL (dealer).

Next time, check your facts before you post misleading garbage!
“But now the real problem. 40 million more people need ammo......otherwise that new gun is a really nice paperweight.”
Most of them aren’t shooters and will probably not shoot a box in a year.
I think the poster was addressing Biden’s desire to make semi-automatic firearms into NFA items. Hasn’t happened - yet.
Oh man, good thing he had the ammo! I am having a lot of trouble finding 12ga shotgun shells!!
How feasible is it to track high capacity mags? I would think not very. Not even sure if those transactions are recorded. What can they do if you lost 1 or 2?
Worst case, they make you fill out an affidavit to that effect. Which means just don’t get caught with one.

Although, I do admit you did some very nice html formatting with you italics, large fonts and blue font colors. Next time though, don't get so wrapped up in making it pretty. Spend more time...

What's with the anger dude? How about politely correcting him if he is indeed wrong?
What happened to civility around here?
Cody Wilson says he regularly puts 500 rounds thru these guns. I think your info is outdated.
