“No problem, if and when Dominion has to produce source code, they will scrub anything damning out of the source code before they hand it over. “
Okay, I admit it has been a long time since I wrote any code. But my recollection is, you can’t just take stuff out without doing a whole lot more work to make sure it all works. Also, since the code is apparently accessible via the internet, it’s likely that the defense will have a copy and the two won’t match. This could be a problem if the illegally copied code can be shown to work and probably the supplied code will have a lot of bugs in it.
Likely the code has been worked on over the years by lots of individuals who have different styles. That further complicates just taking out the incriminating parts. In addition, it might be possible to get former employees to testify against Dominion. Sure, they may be disgruntled, but they may be able to point out where the bodies are buried.
Dominion, which I believe does have a lot to hide, is making a big mistake going to court.
Your recollection is 100% correct.
Not only work, but also be able to "build" successfully when needed to, and that rebuild produce the same program that was running at election time.
