Mainly do some research and avoid unreliable crap gun like the Judge and a lot of others. Watch Paul Harrell videos on YouTube.
My wife prefers the Taurus Judge to a long barrel shotgun. Keep it loaded with #6 bird shot.
A “snake gun”, a pistol version of a shotgun, might be good at close quarters, but probably totally illegal most places.
Pistols and revolvers are important for fighting your way to the long guns.
Hi.
Hell, i don’t know anymore.. Used to be rule .303 to reach out and touch somebody. Then comes Mr. Mossberg in 12 gauge. Close in support.
Sam Colt comes into play (.45), shit...
If that fails and everything gets up close and personal, you got your K-bar.
5.56mm
Our house is situated like that. My son left us an Aluminum bat that I keep near the front door. We have some serious butcher knives. I read a story about a woman whose house was broken into while she was cooking dinner. She had a pot of boiling water on the stove. The bad guys got into the kitchen and she threw the boiling water on them, then stabbed them many times.
ANY thing can be used as a weapon. You just have to be creative. And you have to be willing to take their life. They will not be so forgiving.

Love my 8 + 1 Marinecote Mariner with a pistol grip.
Be carefull in some lib states like Ct the pistol grip makes it an assault weapon and illegal.
So keep the standard stock on it if you reside in one of those hell holes .
357 is great for going through cheap walls and killing a neighbor
Last thing I am concerned about during a home invasion or whatever is the decibels.
A sword doesn’t wake the neighbors.
I was picking up some ammo at basspro shop and found a box of OOO buckshot. Never even heard of it. The box said it for bear and moose, I guess that will work on an intruder.
A squirt gun with patchouli oil.

First rule of a gunfight: have a gun.
To prevent hearing damage. One AR15 shot (5.56/.223 or above) in a house causes measurable permanent hearing loss. Any self defense caliber in a house, and you won’t hear a 2nd shot and won’t be able to have a normal conversation for a few minutes. Either a “silencer” or hearing protection prevent that, but a silencer is quicker than slipping on hearing protection. People that sell themselves as self defense “experts” have differing opinions on the matter.
At this point.. any gun with ammo.
Im helping a friend buy. It’s not easy anymore.
He’s getting to the nitty gritty.
000 BUCK is .36 caliber & while it’s not common, it WORKS WELL for defense.
(Though it may be “overkill” on human predators.)
FWIW, numerous professional hunters in Africa LIKE a 10-GAUGE double-barrel with 000 buck for “dealing with” WOUNDED DANGEROUS GAME, like CAPE BUFFALO, LIONS & LEOPARDS.
yours, ex-cadet
I can’t even find ammo anymore—anywhere. Reload time!
They go right through most wooden doors too
If they’re inside your house, you’ve already blown in.
Oh, ammo is easy to find...as long as you're in the market for snake shot, blanks, or 8mm Lebel. LOL.
