We often hear calls for national unity when presidents are inaugurated. And we’re sure to hear them again, despite the fact that we are still divided, red and blue, liberal and conservative, coastal city and heartland town.
But we should not despair. We’ve been divided since the birth of the republic, when the Federalists and the Anti-Federalists, the Hamiltonians and the Jeffersonians, fiercely debated our form of government. In the end, guided by the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, we came together.

Except for one small problem: The people now coming into power to not give one iota about the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, or anything other than their own ideologies, likely gotten from Marx, Lenin, and/or Satan.
If they could, they’d burn all those documents on national television.

Once upon a time, Americans shared a common love for their country and desired to protect and advance its interests. We simply disagreed about the means of doing so.
But the current crop of Leftists despise the very idea of America and see to destroy it.
So ‘unity’ can go eff itself.
The difference, of course, is that we have never before had a usurper government following a coup.
