resident Donald Trump was impeached for the second time in less than a year this week, as the nation reels from the lethal Jan. 6 attack on Capitol Hill.
Impeachment is a political-legal process and he was charged with a single count: inciting insurrection. After the storming of the legislature, which resulted in the deaths of five, Trump says he’ll go quietly from office, though he still questions the validity of the election results.

Trump 2024!
I think he needs to go for the Hat Trick
I suspect that the whole thing simply gets dropped unless Trump demands his day in court - and he just may do that.
Oprah announces free impeachments...for everybody!
.
Thats a pipe dream, how old will he be then. How do you plan to win ANY election when they got away with cheating to win this one with the SC’s blessing?
A new political party will rise from its ashes and it will actually fight for its voters and the Republic.

“resident Donald Trump was impeached for the second time in less than a year this week”
When was the House trial where Pres. Trump was supposed to be able to defend himself? I missed that.
My unrealistic dream is that the impeachment gives Trump a venue to present in way of defense, the mountain of evidence that the election was stolen. The “Hunger Games” imitation that is Big Media would drop coverage in seconds.
Nice of you to show up one short month ago and already dispensing advice and expertise.
Although you might want to practice your craft a bit longer, say maybe over to the D.U. site...they have the same kind of hopeless one-eyed vision as do you, although maybe not quite so patently dumbarse.
If he had signed-up a decade before you, what would your response to his points be?
If he had signed up a decade before me, I would have offered him the same courteous audience I offer you.
Do the years necessarily add to a man's wisdom? Hardly. But this is a forum on which respect is usually granted to the long-term posters, even where there is disagreement.
I took my pounding here when I was new...I was zotted once after being slapped around by one of the very early, very fierce members, and slunk away for a year or so...
Certainly I learned a long time ago that truth and wisdom aren't solely the province of the old and wise.
But I have for damned sure learned that respect for those who have paid their dues is almost always worth the time and effort.
It remains to be seen if Schumer will insist on a trial when Trump is out of office. In any case the Democrats will probably spend a lot of effort before 2024 to have Trump imprisoned.
Not dispensing anything, just saying what I am thinking. I thought that was what this web site was for...
Nazi Pelosi really thinks she the queen. I wonder if they “retire” Joe and before Harris selects a new VP she is overwhelmed by the freight a president has to carry and resigns...the queen would be president.
“When was the House trial where Pres. Trump was supposed to be able to defend himself? I missed that.”
Of course, the dems could have held hearings where more things could have been debated, but they really really needed to get Trump out right away!! So they dispensed with that, since everyone already knows ORANGE MAN BAD!!

If Joe is forced to resign and Kamala gets to pick a new VP, the choice would have to be approved by both houses of Congress. Since the Senate would be split 50-50 with no VP to break a tie, she might have to be slightly more restrained in whom she can pick in order to get at least one Republican vote. Obviously as left-wing as she can get confirmed, and not a California resident (thinking ahead to the 2024 election). Probably a male and someone who checks off one of the identity boxes: Hispanic, Native American or Pacific Islander, or gay. Maybe Mayor Pete but she might find too much resistance from black politicians.
