I use gmail online for most email correspondence. Is there another easy online email service I can get started in case..you know. Sh** starts getting real?
Also Kimberly Willingham had these step for preventing apple from deleting Parler from you phone.
Does someone know similar steps to take with an android that is using Parler?
Steps for preventing Apple from deleting Parler from your phone:
1. Go to settings; 2. Click on “screen time” 3. Click: “Content & Privacy Restrictions” 4. Click: “iTunes and App Store Purchases” 5. Click: “Deleting Apps” 6. Click: “Don’t Allow”
Call your folks. Write them letters. etc...

We have an elderly relative, nearly 85,in a retirement community, who really misses her interactions with the other residents due to COVID lockdowns. She never took to the internet, couldn’t recall a password and is now essentially isolated, except for us. Rest of her family is passed on.
So, we call and send her letters that include photos and scans printed within the letter. She appreciates them.
I don’t believe Android or Apple can delete an App from the phone, could be wrong. Are not the Apps third party and only provided by Google and Apple in their App stores?
In order to have some privacy, use paid-for-by-you e-mail.
Such e-mail hosts are busy enough, maintaining the flow of things . . . they really do not want to know your content, and they especially do not want to be involved in some contest regarding your content.
Their logo is blood spattered. Really? Too sophomoric - I’ll pass.
True. They can even send you an email everyday with pictures of the mail you are going to receive that day. Privacy is pretty dead everywhere.
I’m not sure whats going on here but i keep getting an unsafe notice.

I use brave browser. If i go in on tor, the page loads normally.
ProtonMail.
Alternative for the more technical types: Go to a domain registrar that offers email, and most do, create your own domain and pay for email. It’s about $50 a year for 5 email accounts and your very own domain name.
If you really want independence, get a domain name and email hosting or even regular website hosting which always includes at least a few email accounts, usually unlimited. Then you can have me@mydomain.com
You could provide email accounts for others too that way. jimbob@mywholefamdamily.com - johnboy@mywholefamdamily.com etc.
Hosting will come with webmail, usually squirrelmail app. You use a web address like mywholefamdamily.com:2082 that you and all other email accounts use to log in to webmail. You can also set up an email client to connect to your email account via smtp.
Email hosting or the cheapest web hosting can be had for $1.99/mth. Most hosts are providing LetsEncrypt for free these days so you’d get https aka ssl.
If you decide to go that route, PM me and I’ll set you up.
Related: Signal is an app for encrypted text messaging. https://www.signal.org/
All the same fans as protonmail. If they use one, they likely use both. Caveat is that both sender and receiver of the text messages has to be using Signal for it to be encrypted.
it is excellent
Tutanota is the top of the line system.. yes
Protonmail is next
btw go to advanced settings on protonmail if you have not already and turn off ALL of the send everything to GOOGLE settings.
just here to help as you are
I can hear the frantic tapping of screens from here...
ALWAYS check advanced shared, accesability any settings on a mail program. Google and such own a lot of souls.
That is wht tutanota using encryption is top of the tree so to speak.
another for protonmail
I understand wanting to get away from Apple, but your ISP is not likely to be Google, Twitter, Facebook, Amazon.
My ISP is Time Warner which I am not happy about since they are controlled by Libs but my alternative is telephone line ISP which from all accounts very poor in my area. I live in NE Ohio so satellite is out of the question.
“We have an elderly relative, nearly 85,in a retirement community, who really misses her interactions with the other residents due to COVID lockdowns. She never took to the internet, couldn’t recall a password and is now essentially isolated, except for us.”
I’m 82 and my bride is heading to 81 soon. She complained that none of our gene pool responded to written notes nor phone calls. One of her best friends told her to get a smart phone and text them. I bought her a Trac fone/smart phone and loaded the phone numbers and emails of the Gene pool, siblings and her 10 closest friends.
She couldn’t believe how fast our younger gene pool responded to texting. One day, while riding with me, she arranged a holiday dinner, and who to bring what in about 15 minutes of texting. She was hooked. That used to require a lot of phone calls and time.
I have not used free e-mail from anyone in over 10 years. I pay less than $50 per year for no ads, good spam control, and huge amounts of storage. Check out Fastmail.com, from Australia. Their security is pretty good, but I’m not able to give a technical evaluation of it. I just saw where they will give a 30-day free trial.
