Just after midnight this date in 1993, Washington state carried out the first legal hanging in the U.S. since 1965.

Dodd pleaded guilty to his three sex murders, and fought for his own execution. The state of Washington obliged him in a speedy three years.
Although the Evergreen State had lethal injection on the books, Dodd also availed his right to select its holdover alternative method, hanging.

I saw a Crime Show that covered this monster years ago.
He was pure evil. The reporter/correspondent had access to some of the photographic evidence of the crimes and he said if anyone deserved to die it was this fiend. WHO, btw, said in interviews he needed to be killed because if ever given the chance again he would rape, torture, and kill as many children as he could.
He was a lot more honest than your average politician. I give him that.
