According to Channel 13 News, the number highlights the need for people to continue to protect themselves against the virus, because the body takes time to develop the antibodies needed to fight it.
Studies of the Pfizer vaccine have demonstrated that immunity begins occurring only 8-10 days after the first dose and even then immunity is only at around 50 percent. For that reason, a second dose is given 21 days after the first.
It is also unclear whether the vaccine prevents a person from spreading the virus.
While the individual would not get sick, since the immune system is now equipped to fight the virus, the individual’s nasal passages could still emit infectious virus particles.

Of course it isn’t ‘news’ but the anti-vaxxer crowd would like for you to think it is. Anything to undermine the need to get the vaccine.
As of 31 Dec, over 800,000 Israeli’s have received the vaccine. 240 out of 800,000 is a miniscule fraction. And, that doesn’t take into consideration false positives and those who had the virus prior to taking the shots.

Most people have no idea that more kids died from the vaccine than the actual disease. That info is hard to find these days.

I don’t think FR a majority are anti-vaxers. I think they are anti covid vaxers. There is a HUGE difference. Being cautious over a rushed vaccine does not make a person an anti-vaxer.
No long term testing on fertility, birth defects, cancers, or other health issues. Add that to the pharma companies and their immunity deals. It is prudent if you are sceptical to wait and see how things turn out before blindly trusting a rushed vaccine.

Yeah things would be so much better if we still had smallpox to contend with.
Here is what I’ve gathered on how this vaccine works.
A fragment of the RNA from the ‘rona virus is injected into muscle tissue. Specifically, the RNA for the “spike protien” that is unique to the ‘rona and is the method of infection of healthy cells. The fragment causes the “spike protien” to be added to your cells in the area of the injection. Your body soon recognizes this cell mutation and kills cells with this extra spike protien. Any symptoms you may experience from the injection is resulting from your immune response to these changed cells. Next time your body sees this spike protien on a cell, it will destroy the cell - presumably a ‘rona virus cell.

It didn’t eradicate it, good hygiene and eating help with most things as does other vits. I’m glad you don’t refute the history at least. The point is, I don’t trust these multi billion dollar corps.

Freerepublic is a natural home for conspiracy freaks. I heard these same anti-vaxxer claims when anthrax was the subject after 9-11.
The smallpox vaccine works by giving a mild case of smallpox. You get a small scab on the skin where the vaccine was administered. Then the immune system would go to work. Over time, immunity is acquired for most people. A number of people will just not respond to the vaccine and not acquire sufficient immunity. If I remember, in the early days of small pox vaccinations, some people did get smallpox, and died or were seriously ill.
