Speculation about the possibility of a U.S attack on Iran has reached a fever pitch as President Donald Trump’s administration winds down. Far from signaling the inevitability of an attack, the partisan panic is a last hurrah for those opposed to Trump’s “maximum pressure” in favor of a more incentives-based outreach.
Warnings of war are the gift that keeps on giving for a broad progressive array of organizations that fundraise off the scenario. They make for good press and national security clickbait, but there is little indication that Trump will attack Iran anytime soon.

The Democrap party is by far a bigger threat to the USA than Iran will ever be.
Trump has pulled back the forward deployed carrier battle group recently from striking distance of Iran. From the Iranian rhetoric I’d guess that intel suggested the Iranians were trying to engineer an event that would ramp up US rhetoric on Iran, possibly to use as a focal point to unify political support within Iran.
Kudos to Trump for not falling for it. I suspect this tactic has always worked with previous presidents as the uniparty seems to want a forever war around the world.
The US needs to disengage from its former job as the world’s policeman. Regional coalitions need to form to take over the task if those living there want it performed. We see this happening with the new Israeli surprises. Trump should have gotten the Nobel prize for those. Instead all he got was another heaping helping of Orange-Man-Bad.
There really is no strategic reason for the United States to attack Iran. That is not to say that it is not in the interests of the US to supply and support Israel and the Saudis in their efforts to keep the mullahs confined. The real threat from Iran is to Israel. The mullahs have been screaming “Death to Israel” for decades. Thus far it has been merely domestic rallying rhetoric. The Iranian aid and presence to Syria was understandable. The Suadis through their clients in ISIS were trying to carve out of Syria and Iraq a hostile Sunni state on Iran’s border. Nevertheless Iran now controls areas of Syria where they can hide mobile, modern stealthy medium range land missiles which are a strategic threat to Israel. Israel is also chronically worried about Iran’s nuclear program and takes the mullahs at their hostile word. Hence if war is to start, it will begin with a premptive strike at Iran from Israel. Israel has the stealthy F-35s, drone technology and on the ground Mossad infrastructure to ruinate Iran quickly. Of course the Israelis will do all they can to involve the US. However they have the capability to do it alone with the passive acquiescence of the Gulf Sunni states who might provide landing rights.
Iran will not do anything to provoke the US until January 19. Then all bets are off once when the feckless weak one moves into the White House. No tyrant will fear him. These next 4 years are gonna suck and make 2020 look like a picnic.
“Iran now controls areas of Syria where they can hide mobile, modern stealthy medium range land missiles which are a strategic threat to Israel.”
Iran has had munitions in Syria for 2 decades....more? With the help of Assad they’ve been flying them in on military/IRGC & passenger planes for many years. The only difference now is that the munitions have gotten better & missiles can reach farther.
Ever since the Franco-Prussian War (1870), the idea of tricking your ill-prepared enemy into starting a war has been set in stone.
And a war right now would have two outcomes.
Under a solid Republican presidency, it would be over quickly. But because Democrats suffer from Foreign Policy Deficit Disorder (FPDD), wars under them drag out a lot, even more than the enemy hopes for. A lot of this is because Democrats only care about having power, not properly using it, and using their offices to personally make money.
And Washington D.C. realizes it. Which would definitely turn the tide to re-electing President Trump, because they know he is not a greedy, self-serving, corrupt douche bag, unlike the other guy and his ilk.
All told, the re-election of President Trump would be much like the election of Ronald Reagan. The Iranians knew they could screw around with weakling Jimmy Carter, but the moment Reagan was elected, the US hostages were released.
When the leaders of Iran are promising to take out our president “within days”, ummmm... thats an act of war.
If anything, Trump is just waiting for them to make the first move.
Do you Feel Lucky Punks????!! Well?? Do you?
oh well.
it’s probably better to let the Israeli’s take out their nuclear facilities.
Trump would bomb them before he leaves and the Democrats would just apologize and send them money.
